No Need to Worry - WHO Spokesman

Oxymoron du jour: The World Health Organization

Gregory Hartl, a spokesman for the WHO, says his organization doesn’t see a need for border closures or travel restrictions due to the growing numbers of flu victims.

“He noted that infected people may not show symptoms at the airport or when they reach a border crossing. "Certainly, if you feel that you are ill, you should not travel, in any case, to anywhere," Hartl said.
Lessons learned from the SARS (a viral respiratory disease) outbreak in Asia in 2003 showed that border closure was economically disruptive and not particularly effective. "In public health terms, it didn't work, so we don't want to repeat something that didn't work" Hartl said.

Two totally different situations. They weren’t dealing with illegals in Asia.

Here, we’re dealing with illegals from Mexico who have already caused an increase in previously almost non-existent diseases such as leprosy, tuberculosis and hepatitis A, B, and C.

Hartl, by saying that “it didn’t work”, is being disingenuous and showing us that he thinks the American public is a bunch of idiots who don’t have a clue.

Certainly, according to Hartl, if the illegals feel that they are ill, they won’t travel…

Right... and Mexican hygiene is world renown.

Pharoah, Taskmasters, and Obama

You are either going to see this or not. Regardless, I do see it, and wanted to share it with my Christian/Conservative friends.

While I was reading my Bible this morning, I was struck by the realization that there was an uncanny similarity between the first chapter of Exodus and what is going on in the United States today.

Stick with me here.

1. Replace Joseph with Christianity and Conservatives
2. Replace the Israelites with Christians
3. Replace Pharoah with Obama
4. Replace taskmasters with Congress
5. Compare the burden on the Israelites to taxes on US workers being given to those who don’t.
6. Remember that Christianity usually flourishes under persecution.
7. Compare the midwives to health care professionals who don’t want to be forced to do abortions, but will under Obama’s health care plan.

Now read the Scripture.

(3) Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not (1) Joseph.

And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the (2) children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

Therefore they did set over them (4) taskmasters to afflict them with their (5) burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. (6) But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. And the Egyptians (5) made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

(7) And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive? And the midwives said unto Pharaoh,

(6) Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

…And the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty...

Joel Osteen on Larry King Live

Joel Osteen and his wishy-washy don’t-step-on-anybody’s-toes kind of religion.

This false prophet/teacher does not speak for God nor for true Christianity. As one commenter said, it's not what Osteen "thinks" that is important...it is what God says.

The DHS Report - What it's Really All About

Read if for yourself. DHS Report on Right Wing Extremism Better yet, download it and keep it for future reference.

I’ve heard and read the scoffing of liberals at the reactions of Conservatives and Christians over the new Department of Homeland Security report on Right Wing Extremism. They laugh – especially at us Christians, for being “paranoid” and “overreacting”.

The reason we’re concerned (though not overreacting – as the left-wingers label it) is that we know where this is headed. Christian persecution is just over the horizon. The reason that we are sure of this is because we already know the future, not because we’re clairvoyant, but because God knows the future, and He’s told us what it contains. It's spelled out in Scripture for anyone who wants to take the time to read it.

The end of mankind’s existence on this earth is drawing near. The last years will see Christians persecuted as never before – and as a matter of record, that is already happening in other parts of the world. It’s coming to the USA now.

They laugh, but then they aren’t the ones being listed as potential terrorists in the report.

Excerpts:

"The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment."

"Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."

"The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement."
The report also mentions "conspiracy theories related to gun confiscations, citizen detention camps, and a Jewish-controlled "one world government".

Let’s be honest here.

What group is repeatedly called "haters"?
What group has been most vocal against electing Obama?
What group is the most vocal against abortion?
What group is most vocal against homosexuality?
What group is most vocal against illegal immigration (they left the word "illegal" out of their report)?
What group seems most concerned about the loss of our personal freedoms?
What group is the most vocal about upholding our Constitution (i.e. most especially the 1st and 2nd amendments)?
What group believes, because the Bible clearly states it, that a "One world Government" is coming?

That’s right. It’s Christians.

This thinly veiled DHS report is really about Christians.

Will the liberal left laugh when our fears become reality?

I think so.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matthew 5:12

Schmidt and the GOP Just Don't Get It

McCain’s closest advisor in his presidential campaign was a man by the name of Steve Schmidt. Schmidt spoke before the Log Cabin Republicans , a group of homosexual men and women who claim to stand for Conservative values…but that’s another post.

Schmidt criticized the GOP for using the Bible as a “rationale for gay marriage opposition”. He is urging the Republican party to shift even further to the left by supporting civil unions and gay marriage.

Here are several things from the article that didn’t make sense:

Schmidt predicted gay marriage will create a bigger and bigger divide between the GOP and the electorate in the years ahead. He said that as young voters age, they may adopt conservative views on the economy and national security -- but they will not abandon liberal, social beliefs.

I believe Republicans should re-examine the extent that we are being defined by positions on issues that I don't believe are among our core values," he said,”

They may not be your core values Schmidt. But they are the core values of those voters who have most loyally supported the Republican Party. It is because the GOP is abandoning these core values that it is losing its base support. It’s one of the reasons the GOP lost the Presidential election.

The rapid growth of the Hispanic-American population for instance could soon cost Republicans the entire southwest if we don't recover our previous share of the vote," he said.”

The rapid growth is the result of lax border protection and the refusal of the government to crack down on illegals. You should be urging enforcement of our immigration laws and doing something to STOP the rapid growth of illegals in this country.

Take a look at the tea parties, Schmidt. I guarantee you most of these people were either Republican or Independent. And they are sick and tired of the Republican party giving them the cold shoulder.

If we wanted to support abortion, homosexual marriage and illegal immigration, we would have voted for Obama.

You just don’t get it. Neither, obviously, do most of the chief pundits within your dying party.

If you don’t want to lose your voter base, you need to quit listening to the opposition and go back toward the right economically and socially.

Otherwise, why not just step across the aisle right now and stay there.

Tea Party Terrorists

The Tea Party I attended was huge - between 4000 and 5000 people. People like me. Mostly Christian, conservative, family oriented, for smaller government, for small business, for less taxation, for enforcement of our borders against illegals, for the sanctity of life, for freedom, for states' rights, for the Constitution and all its amendments.... Oops...wait a minute ...I think I just described a huge crowd of potential terrorists!

Take a look at some of these potentially threatening right-wing extremists:

Funny. I didn't see any violence. Out of 4-5000 people there with signs, I only saw 2 or 3 that would be considered "offensive". Everyone was polite. I felt safe.
And do you know what all these 1000s of radical right-wingers did when they left the city municipal grounds? They picked up their own trash and left the place spotless.

They sure didn't look or act like terrorists to me...but then, the government always knows best, doesn't it?

Sweet or Unsweet?

No More Bailouts!
Grow Business, Not Government!
Freedom!
Socialism - Just Say No!

These are some of the signs my group will be displaying as we travel 100 miles to be a part of history. The silent majority will not be silent today.

We're going to a tea party.

Word on the street is that ACORN plans to infiltrate and then disrupt tea parties throughout the US, with the purpose of falsely portraying right-wingers as crazies, violent, racist, and extremist. You can bet that out of a 3000 people, if one of them happens to be a skinhead or some other nutjob, THAT is the picture you will see in the headlines. The Media is not happy about this event because they see it as an attack on their Obamessiah. They will do everything to discredit the event - downplay the numbers, find one crazy to interview, look for damning photo-ops etc.

My husband owns his own business, and I took a vacation day with my employer's blessing. (He suggested I wear an indian costume. Sorry, boss, I won't go that far. :) )My youngest is out of school, so he's going with us, along with others.

Will the tea parties accomplish anything overnight? I don't think anyone expects that. But it will be a rallying cry that both the Democrats and Republicans better heed.

"We're all mad here." ~ The Cat in Alice in Wonderland

" 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do..."

Sometimes Obstacles are in our Best Interest

Dick Powell is a friend who sends out devotionals on a regular basis, of which I am a recipient. The one for today was especially thought provoking to me, and I got permission from him to post it here. If you are interested in getting on Dick’s list to receive future devotionals, email me and I’ll pass along your email to him.
Here’s today’s article:

I was intrigued by the headlines on the news website. “Woman Attacked by Polar Bear.” A casual perusal of the headlines would tend to conjure up images that have nothing to do with the actual facts. I first thought a polar bear had escaped from the zoo to go on a murderous rampage, tracking down and mauling an innocent woman. Can’t they do a better job of controlling these animals? Turns out that’s not the way it happened. I think the headline should have read, “Polar Bear Reacts to Unprovoked Attack by Strange Woman.” The woman did not accidentally end up on the polar bear habitat. She had to climb a fence, go over a line of prickly hedges, and scale another wall before jumping into the water and swimming directly towards a surprised bear. In spite of their friendly appearance and starring roles in movies and commercials, polar bears are not receptive to intruders in their habitat. When it was threatened, the bear did what polar bears always do; it attacked. The woman survived but I suspect she will not have fond memories of her polar bear adventure.
Human behavior is such a mystery. For some reason, we seem to be attracted to those things that do us the most harm. It’s not as if we haven’t been warned. Warning labels, danger signs, and high fences abound, but our determination to run towards harm is practically without limit. The same thing is true of spiritual danger. Even though God has given explicit instructions about how we ought to live, our inclination is to ignore the warning signs, climb the fence, and run towards sin. Then sin does what it always does. It separates us from God, brings pain into our lives, and leaves us wounded and wondering how we got into this mess. Temptation will always be a problem, but next time we are tempted to climb the fence, perhaps we should consider whether it is there for a reason.

Thank You, my Friend

I am ashamed to say that I’ve been a Christian long enough that admittedly, sometimes when I go to a worship service I’m just going out of obedience and going through the motions. Ritual. Tradition. I enjoy the fellowship, the music, and the sermons, but occasionally my heart is just not in it. I’m preoccupied, or I’m worried about something, or I’m thinking about all the things I need to get done.

This morning was not one of those mornings. I prayed before I left home. God, help me to truly worship You today and thank You for what you did on the cross for me. Lord, I can’t do anything right without You. I even need Your help to worship in a way that will be pleasing and honoring to you.

I wasn’t disappointed. God’s presence was in our midst. Our gratefulness was apparent in our music and in our response to the message today. I was overwhelmed when we sang Thank you for the Cross. I was moved as I heard the story of Jesus once again…His selfless servant attitude, His suffering, His love for me. His total, unconditional love for me. A love that manifested itself through His suffering and death for my sins. A love that never changes – even when I do. A love that surpasses all understanding. God, the Creator, the Savior, the Messiah, the Almighty. A love that raised a dead man from the grave. A love that stays the same, even when I’m just going through the motions. Ritual. Tradition. He loves me through it all.

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, ... how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

" ...Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God." James 2:23

"...know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." James 4:4

Thank you for the cross, my Friend.

What Does a Conservative Look Like?

It really irks me when the Associated Press has headlines like this.

The Headline reads: Blogger’s Prison Death Rallies Iran’s Liberals

Iran’s Liberals
Iran’s Conservatives

Guess who the Associated Press says they are.

The role of Iranian bloggers as liberal opinion-shapers could intensify ahead of June 12 elections that will decide whether arch-conservative President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad remains for another four years.”

Iran’s Liberals = freedom loving people who want less government control over their lives.

Iran’s Conservatives = Ahmedinejad and his oppressive, freedom-squashing government.

In this country, it is the Conservatives who want more freedom and less government intervention in their lives. Bush, the semi-conservative president was wary of Iran and other countries like it and didn’t believe diplomacy was the answer to keeping them in line.

Obama, the ultra-liberal is the one who wants to hold hands and sing Kumbaya with Iran, North Korea, Venezuala, and every other third world dictator, despot or Communist ruler.

The liberals are in control in this country now, and they’re talking about more government, more socialist programs to make more people dependent on government, more control over the Internet, suppression of religious freedom, suppression of Constitutional rights, and a Civilian Security Force (i.e.: Obama loyalists seeking out Obama dissenters to report to authorities).

Yet the Associated press insisted on dividing Iran into “liberal” and “conservative” and making the “conservatives” the bad guys.

I’m sure it wasn’t intentional.
Yeah, and I’m sure Bill Clinton is a faithful and doting husband.

Here's a quick test. See how quickly you can spot the true conservative from the choices below.

#1:

#2:

If you guessed #2, you are absolutely right. This man is a true conservative.
If you guessed #1, you are absolutely wrong. You probably work for the Associated Press, don't you?

For or against Homosexuality? Warren can't seem to Decide.

I've never been a fan of Rick Warren. He's too soft on sin and too big on being in the media and being the center of attention. Apparently Joseph Farah has the same feelings about Warren.

Rick Warren's gospel is not one of repentance but of acceptance, which is totally contrary to the message of the Bible. He also sorely lacks in an area that John the Baptist so keenly understood...

Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he [Jesus] that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

He must increase, but I must decrease.

John 3:25-30

Warren is on magazine covers, book covers, at the White House, in the center of Presidential debates, on television, and anywhere else where there is a limelight.

Warren's personal Purpose-Driven-Life seems to be about increasing, not decreasing.

April 8 Follow up: Warren actually made the following statements (full article here). Keep in mind this is a man who claims to be a Christian and who is supposed to be a spiritual leader responsible for his flock:

"he has "never been and never will be" an "anti-gay or anti-gay marriage activist." [The opposite of anti-gay is pro-gay and the opposite of anti-gay marriage is pro-gay marriage]

" I never support a candidate, but on moral issues I come out very clear."
[Considering his remarks recently, I would say he's not too clear at all]

"I wrote to all my gay friends -- the leaders that I knew -- and actually apologized to them."

[Apologized? About what? You are weak on this issue that it is hard to tell where you actually stand. Your church members have to be confused after getting your letter, which seemed so strongly to support Prop 8, and then finding out you called "all (your) gay friends...and actually apologized to them."]

Why any true Christian follows anything this man says, writes or does is a puzzle to me, and I have friends in my own church who think his Purpose Driven stuff is really great. Sorry, I can't support this man in anything he does because I believe he is a false teacher.

Denial of Evil

I posted this first in November of 2006.

Everyone on the face of this earth has a common enemy. He hates us all - whether lost or saved. He seeks to destroy all. His name is Satan.

It’s no surprise that those who deny the existence of God will deny the existence of Satan.

What is a surprise is how many so-called Christians and pastors reject belief in a literal Devil. This is especially true in what is called Liberal or "Progressive" Christianity. Most liberals regard the existence of Satan as a myth, just as they believe Adam and Eve and most of the Bible are myths.

Ignorance of Satan is dangerous, because he is then able to move about freely in our lives with us being unaware of what is happening. Scripture warns us about being ignorant of Satan: “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (II Corinthians 2:11)

Satan is very real. He is mentioned in 26 of the 66 books of the Bible, 7 of them being in the Old Testament and 19 of the 27 New Testament books. Jesus Himself mentions the Devil numerous times.

Satan is not just an “evil force”. He has the three basic characteristics of personality: mind, will, and emotion. He is the opposite of Christ. On a side note: He is NOT Jesus’ brother, as the Mormons teach.

He is the author of pride. When we are prideful, we are most like Satan.

In Isaiah, Satan says, “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation…I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” Isaiah 14:13-14. Contrast this with the words of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane: “...Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” Luke 22:42.

Satan is a great imitator of God. He is a counterfeiter. He has his own doctrines, which are contrary to God’s doctrines. Some or all of these doctrines are embraced by so-called Christian churches all over the world today.

The Word is not inspired
The Birth of Christ was not divine
The Morals of Christ are not absolute
The Miracles of Christ didn’t happen
The Way of Christ is not the only way
The Blood of Christ does not save
The Resurrection of Christ did not happen
The Return of Christ will not happen

Does your church teach any of the above doctrines?

Satan was the first to cast doubt on God’s Word. “Yea, hath God said…?” (Genesis 3:1). Does your church cast doubt on God's Word?

He was the first to deny God’s Word “…Ye shall not surely die.” (Genesis 3:4).Does your church deny God's Word?

Just as God has a plan for your life, Satan also has a plan for your life. He wants to destroy it. If you are lost, he wants you to stay that way so that you will share his fate in the pits of hell someday. If you are saved, he wants to make you an ineffective Christian. He wants to ruin your witness and your testimony.

How are we to combat Satan? Not by focusing on him, or trying to “cast him out” as some religious movements today teach. Scripture tells us exactly how to combat him. Turn from Satan and towards God.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you...” James 4:7-8

Be aware of your enemy.

To Whom do You Bow?

September 11, 2001.

That day will never be forgotten, at least by those who care about this country.

Of the many terrorists involved in the murder of Americans that day, 9 of them were from Saudi Arabia, a Muslim country that on the surface seems to be an ally of the USA. Sharia law influences the law of the land in Saudi Arabia, and though not as outwardly radical as an Iran, it has its share of Imams and other Muslim leaders who spew hatred toward the West and toward Israel and the USA in particular.

In Saudi Arabia, their law includes:
Wives and children considered property of the husband
The beating of drinkers and gamblers
The sanctioning of wife-beating
The jailing of individuals publically practicing religion other than Islam
The execution of homosexuals
Sex outside of marriage means flogging (more so for the woman than the man) and stoning to death for adultery (again, more so for the woman than the man)

All this is a preface to what I have to say next.

Barrack Hussein Obama is a disgrace to the United States of America. Protocol means nothing to him. After he and his wife’s flippant attitudes toward the Queen of England, for him to bow down to a Muslim King from Saudi Arabia was a disgusting and sickening act.

The country which produced 9 of the murdering terrorists that killed thousands of our own and he bows down to their king.

The country whose laws listed above promote oppression rather than freedom, and he bows down to their king.

The country whose religion teaches that Jews and Christians should be hunted down and killed, and he bows down to their king.

BHO does not represent me.
I bow to no one but Jesus.
He should do the same.

Those Who Serve

Yesterday I was at Lowes buying some plants to replace the ones my brown thumb has managed to kill. I had a cart full, and had just finished keying in my pin number for my checkcard when something caught my eye to my left. I saw a man walk in, probably in his late fifties or early sixties wearing a cap that said "Vietnam Vet", and a jacket with information about where he served during the war.

I asked the cashier to do me a favor. "Would you mind letting me push my basket to the side here for just a minute? I need to do something real quick."

"No problem" she said.

I made my way back through the garden area and caught up with the man, who was standing there dutifully while his wife wandered off exploring discount plant prices.

"Excuse me, sir," I said. "Would you mind if I spoke with you for just a minute?"

He looked at me strangely, obviously wondering what I was up to. "Sure," he said.

"Sir, I noticed your cap, and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for serving our country, and I want to apologize to you for the way our country treated you when you came back."

Tears welled up in his eyes, as though a flood of memories were about to burst out from behind them. "Thank you," he said, as he reached out to give me, a perfect stranger, a hug. "You don't know how much that means to me."

We didn't chit chat. There was nothing really left to say. I said what needed to be said, and his response said it all.

This morning, I relayed this story to a brother in Christ who also served in Nam. He too teared up and thanked me, and said it meant more than I knew.

We need to remember to thank our men and women of the armed services rather than allow the scumbags who criticize them, call them baby-killers*, and spit in their faces to be the dominant voices that they hear when they return.

In light of what I experienced yesterday, I wanted to share this...

*On a side note, have you ever noticed that those that scream "baby killers" at our servicemen and women are so often the same ones screaming about women's "rights" to "their own bodies", so that they may kill their own babies on a whim anytime they so choose? Ironic, it is.
