"I just figured out "why so many folk are hatin' on Obama. He doesnt' fit the mold...He ain't white. He ain't rich. He ain't privileged." Jeremiah Wright

Wrong on all three counts. That makes you a liar.
Obama is half white.
His income in 2005 was 1.6 million dollars.
He's a US Senator.

On the same youtube video, Obama stated that if he could talk to Jesus he would ask him if he was going "up" or "down".

A true Christian doesn't have to ask that question. We know the answer, because it's a promise from God.

But then the UCC doesn't teach true Biblical Christianity.

Well said!

You are right about the UCC. They have a few orthodox people but as a denomination it is horrible. One of their most visible pastors (other than Wright) preaches from the Gospel of Thomas, denies that Jesus is the only way, disses the Gospel of John (and more), is pro-legalized abortion, pro-gay, etc.

What a freak show.

I'm curious? Who is this person that you are referring to?

Ms. Green,

Great post -- and there is a similarity to my latest post on Obama and religion.

The UCC believes in baptismal regeneration.. but at this time, as bad as that is, seems to be the least of their theological problems.

Keep up the good work.

In Christ eternally,

ExP(Jack)

Sad statement, but true.

Under the UCC polity, no congregation is bound by the greater denomination's directives. In essence, they've built themselves up by allowing pert near everything and/or anything. This is how you get a Trinity UCC that espouses Black Liberation Theology, and the welcoming into the fold of a Houston church last year that is described as the largest gay congregation in the country. My pastor has a joke about the UCC (United Church of Christ) that the letters stand for "Unitarians Considering Christ". It gave me a good chuckle. At the same time, my pastor feels it is a plus that the UCC allows for such varied voices. I respond by saying that some of the voices are crap. Too many, actually. I'm working toward seccession.
