The Death of a Loved One

A dear friend of mine just lost her father after a lengthy illness. The funeral is tomorrow, and I will be taking the day off from work to be her "gopher" and hopefully to encourage her and help her and her wonderful husband to have strength. I know they're both exhausted. I probably won't be posting anything until Thursday - or responding to comments other than to check to make sure everyone is "being nice".

The Bible says quite a bit about mourning, and about death. These are just a few of my favorites.

"A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;" Ecclesiastes 3:4

"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope."I Thessalonians 4:13

"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; " Psalm 34:18

"...weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." II Corinthians 1:3-4
