Code Pink and Cindy Sheehan to the Rescue

We can all rest easier tonite because Code Pink members, along with Cindy Sheehan, met with Iran President Ahmadinejad recently and discovered that this has all just been a big misunderstanding. Won’t be long now till we’ll all be invited to come prance in Iran’s new “peace park” with all the peace-loving Muslims of his country, who, after all, only want to be friends with us. You don’t think they REALLY think we’re the “great Satan”, do you? Of course not. That’s just a bunch of rhetoric because we’re mean and we won’t be friends with them.

The Code Pink bunch is going to take care of everything. They and Mahmoud had a wonderful get together according to co-founder Jodie Evans:

“Ahmadinejad told the group his dream is that Iran makes friends with the West... He’s really about peace and human rights and respecting justice,” Evans said.”

I feel so much better about things now. Don't you?

Logan Act:

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply, himself or his agent, to any foreign government or the agents thereof for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

I read somewhere that only one person has ever been indicted - Jesse Jackson I think. But he wasn't prosecuted.

One of my pet peeves : laws on the books that are not enforced. Either enforce them or remove them.

Dang! It doesn't say we can hang 'em!

Regarding your peeve, I share it as well, with the exception that there can be mitigating circumstances. However, it is plain that people like these are those that are in line with the intent of the law. I say hang 'em, metaphorically speaking.

Well Cindy has made foreign jaunts to sing and praises and kiss the buttholes of Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and Kim Jung Il so I can't say I am too surprised! All it takes is hating the USA and Cindy will come a' running, especially if another lefty (Michael Moore) or group of lefties (Code Pink) will pay the way!
