Sarah Palin Effigy

In West Hollywood, Chad Michael Morisette and his homosexual partner have a Halloween display in their front yard that depicts Sarah Palin hanging from a noose and John McCain burning in the chimney. The liberals don’t see anything offensive about this at all.

One video shows the sheriff basically saying, “Get over it. It’s Halloween.”

Now picture this.

I decide that for Halloween, I’m going to have an effigy of two homosexuals burning in the chimney, an effigy of Obama hanging from a tree, and a effigy of a sheriff hanging from a third tree with a pumpkin smashed over his head.

Think anyone will be offended?

By the way…after watching the first video, did anyone else ask themselves, “Is there anybody in West Hollywood who is straight?”

I have several thoughts on this.

Historically, we know that King George effigy was strung up because for the most part he was a royal pain in the democrat symbol. It's not really anything new.

I was disgusted by this and I wouldn't do the same with Senator barry's effigy even if I had a commie neighbor, although I would be tempted to put out a Senator barry mummy holding instead of a crook and flale a hammer and cycle.

I worry about the 1st Amendment enough as it is. Senator barry has not only attacked the freedom of Religion clause with his bitter comments, but with his desire to reinstate the 'fairness doctrine' he has a problem with free speech. Add in the arrest of an ABC reporter and producer at the democrat convention and the freeze out of media outlets that dare question him the we should be concerned that he would nationalize the media. That's 3 of the 5 concepts that government is prevented from interferring with.

Bottom line is no matter how disgusting this is, it is free speech and I can't in good conscious say it shouldn't be allowed.

Ms Green, I know this is off topic but, I think the reason people aren't concerned about Obama being a Marxist is because they really don't understand exactly how dangerous Marxism is to America.

For all readers, I don't usually visit other people's blogs to promote my own, but I have written a post that I feel is vitally important to help educate those who have yet to understand the dangerous implications of an Obama administration. If you don't know why you should be concerned about Obama's Marxist ideology please visit and be educated.

Dakota,

I too value the 1st Amendment. My problem is in the liberals' interpretation of it. It's ok to hang Sara Palin by a noose - although it's extremely offensive - but if I were to hang an effigy of Obama in my yard, the media and my liberal neighbors would be screaming at the top of their lungs about "hate" and "intolerance" and "racism" and I guarantee I would not be allowed to keep Obama hanging in my yard until Halloween. And in Louisiana, at least, if I were to hang an effigy of my sheriff, I'd be under the jail by now. As for having two homosexuals burning in my chimney, the same people who screamed about my Obama-in-a-noose would scream about my "homophobia".

Freedom of speech is eroding away - for conservatives and Christians. The 1st Amendment is applicable only to liberals these days.

Ms.Green,
I like your blog. But, this post exposed your hatred/ double standards. (sorry for the harsh words)
Ok - agreed, Sarah Palin effigy is not funny. I condemn it. I think they should be punished too.

But, where is your outrage when people on the other side hang Obama's effigy? Did you not read the news from University of KY? Or, Orgon campus?

Since you are very knowledgeable, you clearly know the implications of showing a black man hanging, right?

V,

When I posted this, the events you spoke of had not taken place yet. So to set the record straight, I condemn the hanging from a noose any effigy - including Obama, homosexuals, sheriffs, or Sarah Palin. As for what you perceive as my hatred/double standard, I refer you to these previous posts:

Thoughts on the KKK

No Place for Racism in Christianity

My point in the Sarah Palin post was that the liberals have a double standard - as does a great part of society. The incidences you mentioned prove my point. In both of THOSE instances, the law was called and people were arrested and condemned. The men in West Hollywood took their display down - but not until it had been up for weeks without any major uproar and no arrests etc.

You can accuse me of a lot of things - but racism is not one of them. And my friends of other nationalities, colors, and creeds would back me up on this one.

I do, however, appreciate your input, as someone else may have felt the same way but didn't comment, and you allowed me to set the record straight.

This same discussion took place at ELAshley's blog. The comparison to the Obama effigy is fairly weak as the Palin effigy is an affront to all who believe as Palin, just as the Obama effigy might offend blacks. Personally, I find either much ado about nothing as there are wackos on both sides, with some on the right, and the multitudes on the left. I don't expect either candidate to comment on every little thing done by supporters of the other guy or just those who oppose them.

Hanging an effigy IS a free speech issue, particularly since it is political and that's what the 1st Amendment protects, but it is poor speech spoken by those with nothing much to say.
