Some Thoughts on the Recent Wal-Mart Stampede.

For those of you who haven’t been keeping up with the news these last few days, A New York Wal-Mart employee by the name of Jdimytai Damour was trampled to death by Black Friday shoppers intent on getting a bargain on their Christmas purchases this weekend. When the doors were open for business, the mob literally stampeded in, trampling multiple individuals, including Damour, a pregnant woman, Wal-Mart employees trying to help Damour, and various others.

Stampede is a term normally used to describe cattle or other animals, not human beings.

There was a time when even a crowd of several thousand, such as was waiting outside Wal-Mart Friday, would have been a calm, patient and courteous group. They would have been in the “Christmas Spirit” wishing each other a “Merry Christmas” and discussing excitedly the coming days of shopping and imagining the gifts that they would find for their loved ones and friends. When the doors opened for business, the group would have politely and courteously filed in and begun to do their early bird shopping.

Times have certainly changed, haven’t they? When the management announced over the loudspeakers that the store was closing due to the death of the employee, shoppers became irate and some callously continued to shop, not caring that the group they had just been a part of had brutally taken the life of another human being. An article I read said “Items on sale at the Valley Stream Wal-Mart included a Samsung 50-inch Plasma HDTV for $798, a Bissel Compact Upright Vacuum for $28, a Samsung 10.2 megapixel digital camera for $69 and DVDs such as "The Incredible Hulk" for $9.”
These “bargains” were evidently worth more than the life of a store employee.
The Holy Spirit of God is sometimes called the restrainer. Notice He is not called the preventer. All who have been reborn through faith have the Spirit of God within them. He is the One Who guides us morally and convicts us of our wrongdoing. He encourages us to do good to others, to be kind, to be patient, to be selfless.

Animals do not have the Spirit of God within them.

It is animals that do not have morals. They don’t put others above themselves.
It is animals that see what they want, and fight to get it.
It is animals that kill and abandon their young.
It is animals that have sex with whatever and whenever they want to.
It is animals that prey on the weak and will often kill those weakest and sickly among them.
It is animals that have no regard for the wounded among them.
It is animals that will savagely attack when cornered or prevented from doing what they want to do.

Animals don’t voluntarily take punishment or death for an idea.
Animals don’t stop to help a stranger in need.
Animals don’t put their own lives in danger to help another.

God is being rejected by his creations. They have determined that He either never existed, or no longer exists. Christians are despised and ridiculed. God is blasphemed. Human beings are becoming more and more self-focused, with a “me first” mentality.

Evolutionists have been telling us for years that we’re nothing more than animals. Without God, that’s exactly what we are.

Evolutionists also tell us we’re getting better and better.

Tell that to the family of Jdimytai Damour.

GOOD POST! When "things" become more important to mankind than humanity, its not difficult to understand why our society has degraded itself to a barnyard mentality and lifestyle. Without God in the public view, there is no moral anchor to show mankind what sin and wrong thinking will result in. The 10th Commandment says "Thou shall not covet". God Bless, Herm

The incidences of "black Friday" tramplings have become as prevalent as the youTube videos of people catching their decks on fire trying out their new turkey deep-fryer on Thanksgiving.

What a shame that avarice and greed have taken over the country so much that every year somebody gets stomped as if they were a general seating ticket holder at a Rolling Stones concert.

But I have to take issue with your fantasy that this is something new. The land rush of the 1880s was a similar situation. People are still people, and have been for longer than recorded history.

In fact, Jesus was calling for a better way to deal with others almost two thousand years ago.

Strait the gate, and narrow the way, and few there be that find it.

I'm not sure I see a connection between the land rush of the 1880s and what happened at Wal-Mart Friday. However, it is agreed that people are people, and as God says, The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: and There is none righteous, no, not one. I am speaking in this post more about the decline in manners, politeness, care and compassion for others that I see happening in today's society.

It's more than a fantasy. The breadth and scope of evil in our society is increasing, not decreasing.

For my heckler, you make me laugh. "Black Friday" is what the day after Thanksgiving is called because that is usually the day of the year that most retail businesses go from being in the "red" to in the "black". I was not referring to the shoppers.

*grin*

Great post! I think this latest stampeded has much to do with the entitlement mentality that is being fostered by Liberal Government social programs such as welfare with no restrictions or responsibility.

These shoppers feel they are entitled to act like animals because the government has no more regard for them then they do for animals.

It is symptomatic of the greater problem:

Government meddling.

A belief in evolution is nothing more than an excuse for acting like an animal.

Hence, homosexuality...abortion.

Hi, Al-O.

Funny you should put it that way. I quite often hear this argument for homosexuality : "it is found in the animal kingdom".

Not a point I would make as a "good argument". Animals will have sex with whatever, whoever, and whenever. No morality there.

No capacity for self-control, Ms. Green.

Every homosexual, abortionist, should embrace evolution as his/her family tree. We already know that the Democrat Party accommodates animalistic behaviour.

If the shoe fits...
