Hiding Homosexuality behind the Pedophilia Label
Up front I want to say that homosexuality is a sin and a sexual deviation. I think what Mark Foley did was wrong. But this Foley thing is really more about politics than anything else. Foley is a homosexual. That is his perversion. He was not going after 8 year olds. He was flirting with teenage boys. In the state of Florida, a 16 year old can get married with parental consent.
Most sixteen year old young men in this day and age and culture are not children. And Foley is very unlikely a pedophile. He is a homosexual. But the Pedophilia label had to be applied to him - otherwise, what could the Dems say? Nothing!
You can’t have it both ways. If homosexuality is “natural” as the gay activists would have us believe, then what is his crime? The Democrats’ hypocrisy is offensive to the point of being sickening. On the one hand, they are courting the gay vote and supporting gay marriage. On the other hand, they’re calling for investigations and prosecution against Foley. If he was a Democrat, they’d be silent as a lamb.
Barney Frank himself said that it is unacceptable to out a closeted gay person, unless that person uses their power or notoriety to hurt gay people. Gays hate the Republican Party. Foley is a Republican.

Foley needed to resign. Foley needs help. Foley needs the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

RR, I agree with you. What he did was wrong. I'm just disagreeing with the label they're putting on him and pointing out the hypocrisy of the whole situation. The left looks at homosexuality as a normal and healthy lifestyle, so they are totally silent on his lifestyle, but are choosing instead to focus on his supposed pedophilia. Though the legal system interprets pedophilia as referring to children under the age of 18, health professionals limit the term pedophilia to mean attraction to prepubescent children who are generally 13 years old or younger.
This is the same logic that points to Catholic priests and calls them pedophiles - when the truth is most of the priests are not pedophiles, but homosexuals.
There are many homosexuals who are also pedophiles who prey on prepubescent children - but many of the encounters within the catholic church were nothing but homosexual encounters - not pedophilia.
My whole point is that society needs to wake up and realize that homosexuality is no more normal than pedophilia - they are both abnormal perversions of God's intent for sexual relations -which is meant to be within the sacrament of marriage between one man and one woman.
Which brings me back to your example of a 52 year old man making sexual suggestions to a 16 year old girl. A man of any age should not be making sexual suggestions to a woman of any age. Jesus said if you lust in your heart, you have already committed adultery.

Another thing that sickens me is that upon getting caught, Foley immediately checked himself into rehab.
It's disgusting that he would try to gain sympathy for HIMSELF in this fashion.

Exactly. Alcohol doesn't cause one to do anything that one doesn't want to. It simply removes the inhibitions to do what one wants to do but won't under normal conditions due to fear of being caught etc.
Only thing is, I'm convinced that Foley is a homosexual predator, not a pedophile. Not that that is any less perverse...Unless of course you're a liberal Democrat
I perfectly understand why Foley went into Rehab...
Rehab is not a place for Politicians to deal with their problems, whether Homosexuality, Pedophilia, or Alcoholism...
Rehab is a place for Politicians who are in trouble to HIDE FROM THE MEDIA.
He will stay in rehab, protected from the Microphones and Cameras, until a new Scandal comes along, at which time he will emerge, to deal openly with his Homosexuality and lack of judgement, after the Elections.
Maybe he is in a GOOD Rehab Facility, where He will be introduced to God, and His Forgiveness and Redemption for the Sinful Behavior which has ruined Foley's career, and life.
If not, then we will only have a SOBER predator on the loose.
