Liberals, Democrats, Homosexuals and Blacks

Here's a subject for discussion.

As a general rule, Blacks are anti-homosexual. At the very least, they're tolerant of them. At the most, they don't like the gay rights movement comparing themselves to the Black struggle for equality.

The Liberal Democrats can't continue indefinitely to try to cater to both groups. So at what point will they have to make a choice? Which will they choose?

Maybe, with time and increased exposure and understanding, more and more people of color will embrace gay and transgender individuals both within their community and without. Prominent leaders such as Coretta Scott King, Yolanda King. Rev Phil Lawson, Julian Bond (chair of the NAACP), and many others have already begun to.

Coretta Scott King said to those who would try to separate equality for gay people from equality for black people: "I hasten to remind them that Martin Luther King Jr. said, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.'"

The Democrats (and Christians, and all people for that matter) should not choose between embracing only one form of equality for in doing so, one is ultimately choosing injustice. Rather, I strive for justice for all people, with Christ as my ultimate example.

With a title like that you're just begging for controversy!

As to your question, I'd say it depends on the demographic make-up of any particular crowd, and how many cameras and microphones are trained upon them.

Brian, I started not to publish your post, but decided to do so only to respond to it.

There is no right to “equality” in being a homosexual any more than there is a right to “equality” in being an adulterer.

As we’ve both disclosed before, you think homosexuality is perfectly normal and healthy. I go by what God says, and that is that homosexuality is a sin. Though you have tried to prove that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality, you have failed. There’s no reason to continue that on this blog.

Christ never defended sin. He did not, as you call it, “strive for justice” for sin. You will not use Jesus Christ as an example of someone who would say being homosexual is ok on my blog and go unchallenged.

Your Christ that you profess to follow is not the Jesus Christ of the Bible Who died on the cross to pay for our sins. Yours is a false Christ who embraces sin.

Jesus calls all sinners to repentance. An unregenerate, unapologetic sinner cannot get saved. Homosexuals who refuse to repent of their sin cannot be saved.

Last, but not least, this post was meant to stir conversation on which group the Dems/Libs will choose if given a choice – Blacks or homosexuals.

Eric,

Hard to argue with what you said.

It's scary when cynicism mirrors as truth.

Ms Green -- Thank you for publishing my post and my response was intended to address your question: Who will the Dems choose? And I tried to indicate with my response my thoughts on that: both.

There was a time when political parties favored "states rights" over allowing interracial marriage. Now, one is asking that question anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if a day comes when no one will question the Democrats (and even the Republicans) ability to embrace diversity in not only race but also orientation.

Maybe you think being gay is sinful, but that doesn't mean the Democratic and Republican parties won't one day disagree with you?

Good point, Brian. Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, that day probably will come, as the world falls further and further away from God's truths and into apostasy. I never thought someone like Rudy Giuliani would be considered the "top" influential Conservative in this country... that just shows how much things can change in a span of less than 50 years.

Based on your posts, I understand that you are not in favor of gay life style. Is it because you don't like the life style OR based on your religion?? I am trying to understand where the 'intolerance' is coming from!

Did you know that religion was used to justify slavery as well? Even today, women don't have equal rights because of relgious views??

American, Whether or not I am personally "in favor" of the gay life style is irrelevant - God says it's a sin. And I'm not what you would call a religious person.

As for justifying slavery, some religions do justify slavery today - Islam being one of them.

It was Baptist preachers that started the fight against slavery in the early days of this country. As for women not having equal rights, I have just as much rights as a Christian women in God's eyes as any Christian man.

The word "intolerant" is used too often erroneously, especially by the homosexual movement. I can be tolerant of something without condoning or promoting it.

Thanks for taking the time to voice your opinion. Come back whenever you like.

Did you forget how Christians supported slavery in the past??? Did you forget how they made a last ditch effort based on the race ("'Africans are the descendants of Ham") to justify it? Fortunately, there were good christians who criticized and pressed for changes.

Please stop bashing Islam instead. Can you tell me where the 'slavery' is being practiced today based on Islam??

Regarding your God's words - I respect those who follow the God's words. But, when I look around here...all I see is...broken families, single mothers, pre-marital sex, teenage sex, teachers sleeping with students, gambling and drugs!! So, I sincerely ask you - Is this what Christianity can offer to the world?? I've lived in europe as well - it's the same story...total moral bankruptcy.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here. We tend to characterize Islamic society as 'terrorists' because of what we saw out there. Same way, when I see Christian societies like america and europe, all I see moral bankruptcy, sex, addiction and crime!

How can you justify this using your God? So, I politely ask - Do you think your religion has falied??

Comparing Homosexuality with being black is disengenous at best.

The one glaring difference is choice. Blacks did not choose to be born black. For whatever reason, gays chose their lifestyle.

Mark,
What do you mean by they 'chose' their lifestyle? It's ignorance on your part. It's your choice if you had slept with more than one person in your life. It's your choice if you lost virginity before marriage. But, it's NOT your choice if you are a man/woman/gay or lesbian.

And, Ms.Green is not honest here. She conviniently dodges my questions and publishes only 'praising' ones. Again, no surprise here. That's what happens when your stand is based on 'intolerance' and 'hatred'!!

Not everyone who claims to be a Christian is a born again believer who has the Holy Spirit dwelling in them. I don't know any Christians who believe Africans are descendants of Ham. I think you are confusing the 'mark of Cain' - and his descendants were killed in the flood.

Fortunately, there were good christians who criticized and pressed for changes.

Ever read the Bible? In particular, the book of Philemon - which condemns slavery, and which was read from the pulpit in the beginning years of our country to explain why slavery was immoral.

Please stop bashing Islam instead. Can you tell me where the 'slavery' is being practiced today based on Islam??

Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to name a few.

Regarding your God's words,

He is your God too, whether you recognize that fact or not.

I respect those who follow the God's words. America is a Christian nation in name only. We are more of a post-Christian nation. Europe hasn't been Christian for quite sometime. So you can't blame your list of sins on the "Christian" world.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here. We tend to characterize Islamic society as 'terrorists' because of what we saw out there. Same way, when I see Christian societies like america and europe, all I see moral bankruptcy, sex, addiction and crime!

Religion will always fail, because it is man-made. Jesus Christ, however, succeeded in conquering death and providing atonement for the sins of the entire world. He offers salvation to all who will come to Him, repent and accept His free gift of eternal life.

This world won't be here much longer. But we will all live eternally in either heaven or hell. It's really a no-brainer. Accept Christ as your Savior and go to heaven, or reject Him and die and go to hell.

Life is so much better with Him than without Him.

Ms.Green,

I appreciate your patience and time to answer my question though I am not convinced.

You definitely sound like a good person with an open mind. We can disagree but we are all human beings.

My only request is - stop offending 'other' religions by making false accusations. When I showed the moral bankruptcy in christian world, you are blaming it on others. On the other hand, you don't think twice before accusing socia-economic issues seen in middle east on Islam!!

Again, my intention is NOT to redicule or hurt anyone. But, I confront anyone spreading lies or wrong information.

I honestly don't know of any false accusations I've made, any lies I've told, or any wrong information I've given.

I appreciate your saying I'm a "good person". In human terms, some might possibly say that. But in the eyes of a Holy and Perfect God, I am not a good person. If I was, I wouldn't need a Savior.
