The News Media is Lying about Pastor Fred Winters

The media is lying to us. Fox news, My AT&T, and the rest of them - they're all lying.

They are all saying that a Pastor Fred Winters, of First Baptist Church of Maryville Illinois, was shot in front of his congregation during the first morning service and he later died of those gunshot wounds.

This story did not happen. It can't happen. It won't happen.

Don't believe the media! Illinois has some of the strictest gun laws in the US:

In Illinois, it is against the law to carry a concealed weapon.

In Illinois,a buyer is required to show his mandatory Firearms Owner’s Identification Card (FOID) when purchasing any firearms or ammunition.

In Illinois,it is unlawful for any person to possess any firearm with intent to use it unlawfully against another.

In Illinois, it is against the law to possess a firearm if within the past five years you have been a patient in a mental hospital.

In Illinois, It is unlawful to carry or possess any firearm in any vehicle or concealed on or about the person, except on one's land or one's fixed place of business.

In Illinois, It is unlawful to carry or possess any firearm on any public street or other public lands within the corporate limits of a city, village, or incorporated town

Gun laws KEEP THIS KIND OF THING FROM HAPPENING!

This story did not happen. This man is still alive and no one was injured, because ILLINOIS has TOUGH GUN LAWS.

Great points, Ms. Green. Because we all know that murderers always obey the law, right?

Ms.Green, This is so tragic. My heart and prayers go out to his family and the congregation. So much evil and sick minds in this world. Perhaps Churches will need to start having security measures implemented to counter this type of violence. Remember about a year ago, a crazy went into a church in Colorado and went on a killing rampage. A woman security person confronted him in the lobby and shot it out with him. There were two versions of what happened. One was the woman shot him, and the other was that he shot himself. Either way, she stopped him from further violence. Christians have a right to defend themselves like anyone else. Its just unbelievable that its come to this. Yes, Obama, and the crazy liberals will use this and other similar tragedy's to garner support to remove firearms from law abiding citizens. Then only the crazy's and the criminals will have them. The way the economy and unemployment is looking, things are only going to get worse.
Isn't Marshall Arts from Illinois? Maybe he can shed some light on this tragedy. God Bless, Herm

This town is a stone's throw from St. Louie. I'm about 6 hours north, which is like a whole 'nuther state.

Ms. Green is right on the money as far as understanding the difficulty of gun ownership in Illinois. It is one of the few states without concealed carry privileges intact. I'm sure there are at least 40 or 50 IL gun laws Ms. Green didn't mention. It's a freakin' gulag as far as gun rights goes.

As to the story itself, I'm waiting to hear one of two things:

The preacher spoke the true word and was gunned down by a lunatic homosexual, or the preacher was a heretic and gunned down by a lunatic heterosexual.

Any bets?

Marshall, on your analysis of the shooter I'd say that if it was the former, you'll never hear about it in the media. If it was the latter, you'll never hear the end of it. Nor will the media point to Illinois gun laws and their futility, but will instead use the incident to promote more gun control.

GWR,

Wouldn't it be nice if society were like that all the time? Wouldn't it be nice if people were friendly to each other at all times, and gave due respect and listened, and were not harsh?

Unfortunately, society is not that way, because man is depraved in need of a Savior (which is another post and something I've mentioned many times here).

The truth is, there ARE people out there that are intent on committing crimes against others - and in many cases, nothing on earth will stop them but a bullet.

In many other instances, as indicated by polls of criminals who are incarcerated, would-be criminals think twice before committing a crime if they think someone might be armed. In Florida, after their concealed carry permits started to be issued to Florida residents only, the crime rate against Floridians went down, but tourists (indicated by their license plates) became increasingly targeted with crime due to the fact that the criminals knew THEY would NOT be armed, as opposed to Floridians, who very well COULD be armed...

Schools and churches are "supposedly" gun-free zones. And that has gotten us what?

I lived in Illinois from 1978 until Dec 1995 and had several guns, both rifles and pistols. The laws have gotten worse and worse there. I finally sold all my guns before I moved to Iowa. This week I decided to re-arm myself and am now the proud owner of both a rifle and pistol. Iowa isn't quite as onerous with gun laws, but they're getting there.

Now if only they'd enforce the laws against the bad guys and leave the rest of us alone! Imagine if a law-abiding citizen had been packing when the Pastor was shot at!

Glenn, I think if I lived in a state like Illinois or any of the other radically liberal states I'd have to move too.

If just one or two citizens who had been trained and were legally carrying concealed firearms had been there that day, they would have had a good chance of stopping the deranged shooter before the pastor was killed. So indirectly, the state of Illinois has some culpability in the pastor's death.

But then, what am I saying? I forgot...gun control protects citizens from situations like this - and Illinois has STRICT gun control laws...so this story never happened and that pastor is still alive and preaching next Sunday morning.
