Catholic Church Lobbies for Illegals - Not American Citizens

The US Immigration Department has a program in place that allows employers to verify the citizenship of their workers. The program is completely voluntary at the moment.

The House passed a version of the so-called stimulus package that would require any employer that benefited from the package to use E-Verify to make sure that no illegal aliens got an undeserved piece-of-the-pie.

The Senate seems to be vacillating on requiring E-Verify for purposes of the stimulus package. By not requiring employers who benefit from the package to use E-Verify, they are basically opening the doors for illegals and their dishonest employers to gain from the stimulus and leaving American workers out on the street, still unemployed.

What’s even more appalling is that the Catholic church is actually lobbying the Senate AGAINST E-Verify.

What kind of message does this send? Why is the Catholic Church condoning breaking the law? Why is the RCC showing favoritism to criminals from other countries over American citizens? Where’s the Pope on this one? Why is he not condemning these Bishops’ actions? Where in Scripture does it say that breaking the law should be rewarded? It's not in my Bible. I'll have to check the Douay-Rheims and see if it is in there.

As a postscript, I might also point out that the other major lobbying group asking for removal of the E-Verify requirement is none other than the US Chamber of Commerce.

Isn't it enlightening to see who is and isn't looking out for Americans' best interests?

That's because votes are more important than national security and rule of law.

Most of those who promote Illegal Immigration don't seem to have any respect for law and order. How can you exepect an Illegal Immigrant to follow any other rules when he has broken one as he entered our great nation? Very dissappointing.

Ms.Green, I don't think the issue will ever have a happy ending or a viable solution. Those that favor "open boarders" seem to be driven more by greed, politics, and social concepts that are birthed in "Humanist" and "Socialist" views. Their views only embrace "The Rule Of Law" when it deems convenient.
The only light at the end of the tunnel, if there is one, seems to be in our faltering economy. Some fix huh! But realistically there is a tread developing in that some illegals are starting to return back home. As demand for products that harbor illegal workers declines, so will the demand for illegal workers drop. If the economy continues to spiral down, as I feel it may, the problem will become even more prominent in the public view. Even a bloated Socialist Government can't fund enough "Welfare" to support and provide for a huge "Illegal" population. How it will be dealt with remains to be seen. As unemployment rises, resentments will also rise. Only then will workable solutions be considered. So sad that the Government, Liberals, and the Catholic Church can't recognize this before the problem gets even worse. God Bless, Herm
