Catholic Church Lobbies for Illegals - Not American Citizens

The US Immigration Department has a program in place that allows employers to verify the citizenship of their workers. The program is completely voluntary at the moment.

The House passed a version of the so-called stimulus package that would require any employer that benefited from the package to use E-Verify to make sure that no illegal aliens got an undeserved piece-of-the-pie.

The Senate seems to be vacillating on requiring E-Verify for purposes of the stimulus package. By not requiring employers who benefit from the package to use E-Verify, they are basically opening the doors for illegals and their dishonest employers to gain from the stimulus and leaving American workers out on the street, still unemployed.

What’s even more appalling is that the Catholic church is actually lobbying the Senate AGAINST E-Verify.

What kind of message does this send? Why is the Catholic Church condoning breaking the law? Why is the RCC showing favoritism to criminals from other countries over American citizens? Where’s the Pope on this one? Why is he not condemning these Bishops’ actions? Where in Scripture does it say that breaking the law should be rewarded? It's not in my Bible. I'll have to check the Douay-Rheims and see if it is in there.

As a postscript, I might also point out that the other major lobbying group asking for removal of the E-Verify requirement is none other than the US Chamber of Commerce.

Isn't it enlightening to see who is and isn't looking out for Americans' best interests?

Bush and Mexican Murderer vs US Supremes

Whose court is it anyway?

Bush and Mexican murderer vs US Supreme Court.

In 1993 in Houston Texas, a Mexican citizen by the name of Ernesto Medellin was arrested and convicted for the rape and murder of two teenaged girls – Jennifer Ertman, 14, and Elizabeth Pena, 16. Ernesto could speak and write in English. During his arrest, he was given the Miranda rights and he ended up giving the authorities a written confession. He was sentenced to death in 1994 and has been on death row ever since.

In International court, of which the United States has agreed to abide by, said that Ernesto’s rights were violated. It seems that a 1964 “Vienna Convention” ruling says that when people are arrested in another country, they should have access to their home country’s consular officials. The International Court of Justice (as it is called) said that Ernesto and 50 other Mexicans on death row in the United States should be allowed new court hearings to determine whether their violated rights affected the outcomes of their court decisions. Bush came out in support of the Mexican and the World Court.

The US Supreme Court ruled against Bush and Ernesto and other Mexicans on death row and said that neither Texas nor any other state had to abide by the World Court. The outcome of Ernesto’s trial would not have been affected either way.

The word “sovereignty” comes to mind.

The Mexican government stirred this whole thing up in the first place according to the article. Mexico has no death penalty.

It is unclear from the articles I’ve read whether Ernesto and his parents are here in the US legally or not. Regardless, he is considered a citizen of Mexico.

If Mexico doesn’t wants its citizens to face the death penalty for capital crimes then Mexico should keep its citizens home and quit encouraging them to cross the border.

If Mexicans disagree with the death penalty, then they shouldn’t murder and rape on US soil. When in Rome…

The Texan of the Year is a...Criminal???

The Dallas Morning News has chosen their “Texan of the Year” for 2007.

Who is it?

The Illegal Immigrant

This piece is rather long, and mostly full of liberal propaganda. Surely, in all the great state of Texas, which has produced famous writers, athletes, philanthropists, presidents, etc., they could have come up with someone more noteworthy than the “Unknown Illegal”.

The last paragraph sums up the true purpose of their choice:

“We end 2007 no closer to compromise on the issue than when the year began. People waging a culture war – and that's what the struggle over illegal immigration is – don't give up easily. What you think of the illegal immigrant says a lot about what you think of America, and what vision of her you are willing to defend. How we deal with the stranger among us says not only who we Americans are today but determines who we will become tomorrow. “

There are so many things to address in this paragraph that I don’t have time for them all. So I’ll point out some of the more obvious ones.

Since when do we compromise on the law?

America is a land full of differing cultures. The fight against illegal aliens is not a culture war.

So if I’m against illegal aliens, what does that say about me? A better question would be, if you are for illegal aliens, what does that say about YOU?

An illegal is only a “stranger”? Give me a break.

Border Fence Too Expensive

One of my new favorite writers, Vasko Kohlmayer, has written an article entitled The Myth of Expensive Border Fence. In it, he dispels the ridiculous claim that a border fence costs too much. In the process of reading the piece, the same question kept resurfacing in my mind. What, then, is the real reason the federal government says we can't afford a border fence?

Could it be because the Liberals see a whole new voter base from which to draw?

Could it be there are kickbacks coming from companies which benefit from low-paid workers?

Could it be because there is a plan in the works to join the three countries, Canada, USA, and Mexico into an alignment similar to the European Union?

Could it be that the ultimate goal is to dissolve the sovereignty of our country and turn us into a proletariat state?

Can’t have a one world government in place until the US is no longer a power to be reckoned with.

Buying Opposition to the War

These protesters are against the war in Iran (if you pay them for it).

Next time you see a group of anti-war demonstrators, think back on this.

Here’s an excerpt:

“A coalition of liberal and anti-war groups, the organization is advertising online for activists, offering a "generous stipend" of $400 a week. More than 100 organizers will likely be hired. The ads say they "could be assigned to targeted legislative districts anywhere in the country -- you will receive your assignment after you have been accepted."

I've got a GREAT idea. Why not hire illegal aliens? They need the money, and they work cheap, right? They don't even have to speak English. You liberals can make their anti-war signs for them and teach them a couple of slogans like "We hate Bush" and "American Soldiers are baby killers". They don't even have to understand what they're saying. Then when the protest is over, you can offer them amnesty for their service to the country, put them on welfare, and teach them how to vote Democratic.

For English, Press 1

I don’t want to press “1”.

If I call my electric company, I have to press “1” for English.
If I call my phone company, I have to press “1” for English.
The same goes for my bank, my mortgage company, etc. etc.

I was in the pediatrician’s office a few months ago with my nephew. The cartoon network was on. The cutsie little cartoon characters were intermittently speaking in English and then in Spanish.

This is the United States of America for cryin’ out loud!

I found out recently that English is not the “official language” of the United States of America – at least not at the federal level. It is, however, the official language in 25 of the 50 states, and there is a grass roots effort to make it the official national language as well. (Who’d have thought that would ever be necessary!)

The most recent statistics I found say that 82% of the population of this country speaks only English at home – that’s from age 5 on up. Now as far as my publicly educated brain can determine, that means that only 16% of the population speaks another primary language. So why do I have to press “1” for English in over 90% of the business phone calls I engage in!!?? It couldn’t be indoctrination, could it? It couldn’t be that the government is trying to acclimate us to the inevitable?

By law (key words here), in order to become a naturalized citizen, one must be able to speak English. But hey, if you don’t follow one law, why should anyone expect you follow another? If you aren’t in this country legally, why learn the language? You don’t have to speak English to apply for welfare. The government employees will meet you on your level – in your language – so you can get your rightly deserved free meal ticket. After all, you worked hard running, walking, swimming and climbing over barriers to get to this country. The least the government can do is agree to support you for the rest of your life now that you’re here.

Guess I’d better go and brush up on my Spanish. I suspect that the new North American Union is going to come out with an official language, and I’ve got a hunch it’s not going to be English. Might offend someone.

Press 1 for English
Press 2 for Spanish
Press 3 for Arabic
Press 4 for all other languages

Or hang up and get lost. You probably don’t fit in anyway.

After all, it’s not your country anymore.

Being Nice Doesn't Make it Right

My sister lived in New Mexico for many years before cancer forced her to move back home closer to family. I had several opportunities to visit her, and have some personal observations about the Mexican people.

In the city where my sister lived, whites are a minority. And in a case where one people group is predominant over another, you often get a chance to see the true collective personality of the predominant group. I would have to say that the Mexican community in general (at least in that town) is a group of warm, caring, polite, and loving people. My sister lived in the same neighborhood with, worked with, friended with and worshipped with many Mexicans. I loved the people I met, and felt right at home. I’ve said all this because I don’t like being accused of being a racist – which almost inevitably comes up when one starts talking about the illegal alien problem in this county. How many of these individuals I met are actually legal American citizens? I can’t say. Some reports tell us that over half of the Mexicans living in the United States are illegal aliens. The number of the illegal aliens from Mexico has more than doubled in the last decade and now makes up 69 percent of the U.S. illegal population.

The problem with touchy-feeley liberalism is that being nice doesn’t make everything all right. God Himself said that there are none righteous in His eyes, so if we’re patting each other on the back for being “nice”, it still doesn’t excuse our sin.

The illegal alien problem and all it entails is one that the media doesn’t fully cover.
For instance:

*Only about 2% of the illegals in this country are actually picking fruit and vegetables.

*41% are on the welfare rolls.

*10 out of every 100 babies born in this country are to illegal aliens.

*60% of Housing and Urban Development funds go to illegals.

*13 Americans are killed every day by drunk illegals with no auto insurance. That’s over 4700 Americans yearly.

*Some $397 billion dollars in Social Services has been given to illegals in the last 10-12 years

*Some $14 billion dollars has been spent educating the children of illegals in our public school system

*There have been over 300,000 illegals incarcerated during that same period of time, costing the taxpayers approximately 1.5 billion dollars.

When we stand before God someday, He’s not going to have a big set of scales on which to put our good deeds and our bad deeds to determine whether or not we get into heaven. When faced with our own sin, we’re not going to be able to say, “but, God, look at all the good things I did – how nice I was to this person, or how I helped that person…” It won’t mean a thing. Because God’s standard is perfection – which is why He paid the price for us on Calvary – He knew we were incapable of perfection. And if we haven’t accepted this free gift of salvation that He offered us, then we will be rejected by heaven and have to spend eternity away from God in hell. In other words, He’s not going to give us amnesty.

Illegals should face the consequences of their actions as well. They’ve broken the law and are putting a huge burden on the taxpayers of this country. Amnesty is not the answer. Deportation is the answer. Even if we are unable to search out and find every illegal in this country, if our government would start punishing the illegals – round them up, put them in jail, and then send them back – if we would secure our borders, then that would have to send a message to those who are considering coming over here illegally – that it’s not worth the risk. We need a president and a Congress that will put the American people’s interest ahead of their own, and ahead of the illegals’.

Being nice doesn’t make it right.

Tancredo Protestors Turn Violent

Tom Tancredo, upon an invitation from Michigan State University College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom, visited the Michigan law school to speak on immigration. Tancredo is an outspoken critic of illegal immigration and is leading the opposition to grant legal status for illegal immigrants.

Protestors turned out for the event, and got violent.

Let’s see now…because Tancredo is against illegal aliens, he’s the bad guy; he’s a racist. Wonder if his personal spokesman, Carlos Espinosa thinks so…?

On the other hand, the protesters, who targeted student backers of the event, who spit on, kicked, and punched Tancredo supporters, and who slashed tires and pulled fire alarms, are the good guys?

This happened at a law school. Future attorneys of America?

Illegal = Criminal

illegal: not according to or authorized by law : unlawful, illicit

crime: an act or the commission of an act that is forbidden or the omission of a duty that is commanded by a public law and that makes the offender liable to punishment by that law

criminal: one who has committed a crime

In Hazleton Pennsylvania, the mayor has had enough of illegal aliens. A 14 year old illegal was arrested for firing a gun at a playground. Two illegals were charged with shooting and killing a 29 year old man.
Local residents are afraid in their own town. So Mayor Lou Barletta has introduced a measure that will revoke business licenses of employers of illegals, fine landlords who rent to illegals, and make English the official town language.

In 2000, the town had a 5% Hispanic population. Now, 6 years later, Hispanics make up 30 percent of the population. What percentage is illegal is not known, but the crime rate, especially in the drugs and gang related crimes has gone up. Hazleton is attractive because of its lower cost of living and inexpensive housing, plus the job opportunities in the plants, farms and factories in the area.

Already, immigrant reform advocates are crying discrimination. Flavia Jimenez, a National Council of La Raza policy analyst, is warning of a civil rights lawsuit.

Some of the remarks in the article are almost comical. One legal immigrant, who admits that his father came here illegally in the 1980s and received amnesty in 1986, accuses the mayor of abusing human rights. “He’s confusing illegal people with criminals.”

Hello? Let me repeat that.

He said, He’s confusing illegal people with criminals.”

Am I against Immigrants? No. I'm against Illegal Aliens.
We are becoming a nation that looks at the law like a smorgasboard. Pick and choose what laws you want to obey. Leave the rest for someone else. Being a “criminal” is all about perception, not reality. With attitudes like this, we're headed toward anarchy.

Why America is in the Shape It's In

You probably won't like my answer to the question, "WHY IS AMERICA IN THE SHAPE IT'S IN?". There are a lot of answers to this question, but most of them are only partially correct. I want to examine a few of them and then point the finger of truth toward the real culprit.
Politicians. We don't hold them accountable anymore. They're out of touch and out of control.
Illegal Immigrants They're criminals, many are milking the system, they're taking jobs away from Americans, and they're in our face proudly claiming rights that haven't been given to them.
Criminals - Law Enforcement isn't respected anymore. Anarchy rules. Do what you want, just don't get caught.
Homosexual Activists - They don't just WANT to be accepted - they DEMAND to be accepted and will do everything in their power to MAKE the world treat them with the respect they think they deserve.
Hollywood - Keeps turning out trash that appeals to the lowest common denominator. Hollywood has an agenda and is using film to shape public opinion and behavior.
Pornographers - Sex is the number one national passtime and has been lowered to nothing more than a physically self-gratifying quest for the ultimate sexual high.
Public Education System- We've allowed public schools to shape our children's lives and indoctrinate them with anti-God, anti-Christian, pro-evolution, pro-homosexual value systems and beliefs.

All of these things are contributors to why America is in the shape it's in, but the number one reason is this:
Christians That's right. Christians are why the country is in the shape it is in. If you are a Christian, then you are the main reason. Why are we Christians at fault for what ails America? Because we have allowed God to be taken out of the public domain and locked inside of the church. We have allowed the taking of his name in vain so often by saying nothing - that now hearing it doesn't even shock us anymore. We have allowed abortion and euthanasia to become commonplace with hardly a whimper. We've separated ourselves from the world and given up. We've stopped witnessing. We've become afraid to speak out boldly about our faith. And we wonder why God stands by and allows this country to continue to self-destruct!
We have sinned against our Creator by our apathy and timidity. How can we reverse the trend? Have we been silent too long? Without God's help, we are defeated. This country could still be turned around, back toward the Christian values that it was founded on, but it will take real revival by real Christians who are on their knees begging forgiveness and seeking His power. We need to heed His words: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Christian, are you going to continue to be part of the problem?

100% or Nothing Law Enforcement?

Imagine the uproar if President Bush announced today that since we can’t possibly catch all the terrorists that are loose in the world, he’s decided that we’re going to just give up. No use in hunting down some of them if we can’t find them all. Or what about right here at home? There are so many unsolved murders, armed robberies, rapes, and other assorted crimes that we’ll probably never solve them all. So let’s quit trying to capture these guys. Pornography is rampant, but we can’t possible run down every slime bag out there – and besides, it is a multi-million dollar business – it would probably hurt the economy if we shut down all the smut operators. On all these issues, if we can’t bring them all to justice, why not just grant them all amnesty? We’re fighting a losing battle, right? Is this starting to ring a bell? It should. This is exactly the philosophy of the pundits in Washington who are pushing for an Illegal Alien Amnesty Program. We can’t catch them all, and besides, the economy would suffer. So let’s just give them all amnesty and everything will be ok. Since when did we decide on a "100% or nothing" law enforcement policy in this country? If we can't find every murderer, rapist, armed robber or burglar in this country, should we just give amnesty to them all? Why won't law enforcement officials go to these public protests and start rounding up everybody without a green card? What fear is there in the criminal if he can boldly commit his crime while law enforcement stands by and watches? Sure it would be an astronomical job at this point to round them all up at once - but what is wrong with "one criminal at a time"?

Anti-Illegal Alien

I am not anti-immigration. However, I am very anti-illegal alien. There is a tremendous difference between the two. The media and many politicians seem to be totally confused on the two terms, using them interchangeably on a daily basis. Evidently, the public is also largely ignorant of the difference as well, thinking (because of media and said politicians) that there are just a bunch of bigoted upper and middle class whites who are trying to keep out all who are not like us. In layman’s terms, I’d just like to say, “hogwash”.
Each year the United States government issues tens of thousands of Green Cards to individuals chosen randomly by a computer generated lottery. In 2005 alone, over 1,000,000 immigrants were granted LPR (Legal Permanent Resident) status in the United States. This is the first step toward becoming a Naturalized Citizen of our country.
How does one become a legal permanent resident? According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website, you may be eligible through kinship, employment, asylum, or any other of a number of ways. After 3-5 years of having LPR status, you may apply for US Citizenship if you have lived in the US for at least 50% of the 3-5 years, if you have lived for more than 3 months in the state where you applied for citizenship, if you are 18 years or older, and if you have good moral character. You must also be able to speak and write in English and have a basic knowledge of US history and government. If you really want to live and work in the US, the doors are open to you if you go by the rules.
Recently, a friend of my husband and I told us with tears in his eyes that he had just received his papers and was now a full citizen of the United States. We emotionally congratulated him, feeling like an “official” welcoming committee. The anarchists and illegals don’t deserve the same treatment. They are criminals and should be treated as such. Good moral character? Doesn’t fit with the word, “illegal”.
