Mark was Right

One of my friends, Mark, recently remarked about American liberal women always being on the side of Islamofacism. He was ridiculed by another visitor to my blog.

After my post, Another Islamic Law Story,Mark commented:

And this is the kind of thing American Liberal Women support when they protest the war on Islamo-fascism."

To which another reader said: You are 'twisting' the facts here. American Liberal women are NOT suporting these sheria laws. (If you are honest, show me where they said such things!!)

Well, here’s a perfect example of just what Mark was referring to.

Mark is right on the money. Liberals would rather defend extremist Muslim behavior than support a Conservative in office.

Liberals are collectively losing it.

Postscript: Just in case you missed it a few days ago, here is another story about the Religion of Peace. It’s not for the queasy.

William F. Buckley Jr.'s Irreverent use of God's Name

I have been a follower and admirer of William F. Buckley Jr. for many years. His intellect, wit, and insightful commentary on the world around us has entertained, provoked, and educated me in many ways. However, he has crossed a line that I cannot ignore by titling his new book, CANCEL Your Own Go****am SUBCRIPTION. Not only do I think this will be looked back on as a major faux pas, but I think his irreverence toward his Maker will cause him to lose many of his readers. I was so disappointed and appalled by this extremely poor choice of a book title that I wrote the following letter to National Review today.

I have been a reader of National Review for quite sometime, both in print and online. I have always had the highest respect for Mr. Buckley and his insights into the world, politics, religion, and culture etc. I don’t always agree with him, because we all have our own ideas and preferences on any given subject. However, there comes a time when conviction takes priority in a particular situation, and this is one of them.

After learning of Mr. Buckley’s new book title, I am not only severely disappointed at his succumbing to pop-culture, but my convictions will not allow me to knowingly financially support an individual whose talents and intellect come from God, but who chooses to insult that God by flippantly using His name in vain in direct violation of God’s commands.

I will not be renewing my subscription, and pray that Mr. Buckley will see the egregious mistake he has made and make things right – first of all with his Creator, and secondly, with his readers.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exodus 20:7

Tony Blair a "Closet" Christian?

I recently heard about a Pakistani preacher and his son being beaten and left for dead because they would not renounce their faith - and the little boy, when his father crawled over to him, whispered, "we didn't renounce our Lord, did we, Daddy".
Incidences like that make me realize how wimpy we American Christians are. Most of us are too embarrassed to share our faith or stand up for what we believe in for fear of what people will say about us. Evidently, it's not just we American Christians who are wimps when it comes to our faith.

Tony Blair has said that he is sorry that he felt uncomfortable revealing his faith while in office for fear he would be considered a nut job. This article goes on to say that Blair’s faith was and is an important part of his life.

A “closet” Christian?

So, are you, the reader, a “closet” Christian?

Brings to mind these Scriptures:

For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He shall come in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. Romans 9:33

For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10:11

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15

And one last one, that really says more than any of the others...

And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. I John 2:28>

Lead Turkey, Anyone?

China “apologized” for shipping over 70 million toxic turkeys to the USA last week, but says it’s too late to establish a recall.

The turkeys were experimentally fed with birdseed, lead pellets, and date-rape drugs.

China says they will work to regain the trust of the American consumer. They have 80 million “delicious Christmas hams” ready to ship in December.

Think I’ll stick to catfish and boudain this year.

Made in China = health hazard.

Crime and Punishment in Islam

I've tried to give those with opposing views some space to defend Islam, but it has become increasingly difficult for me to stomach the lies. The religion of Islam is a religion of death, submission, oppression and hate. It is a religion straight from the pits of hell.

In Iran recently, three young people (two men and a woman) were publicly executed as hundreds of maniacal Muslim men screamed with glee.

The crime? Distributing leaflets promoting Islamic reform in Iran.

If you have a weak stomach, or are easily disturbed, read the article, but don't watch the video.

Islam. The religion of peace.

Clergy and Divorce

Seeing the words “Clergy” and “Divorce” in the same sentence caught my eye as I was perusing the Dallas Morning News. The article is entitled “Clergy Surviving Divorces.” It starts out reporting on a married couple, Randy and Paula White, both claiming to be pastors, who have announced they were getting divorced. It goes on to say

For increasing numbers of clergy, a divorce no longer generates the kind of career-killing hue and cry of decades ago, in part because plenty of people in the pews have experienced divorce themselves.
The shifting views on divorced clergy reflect a growing concession among rank-and-file conservative Christians that a failed marriage is no longer an unforgivable sin.
For many evangelical Christians, the line seems to have shifted from a single acceptable reason for divorce – adultery – to a wider range of reasons that some say can be biblically justified
.

First of all, God allows for divorce in the case of adultery only.
God holds clergy to a higher standard as well. They are, after all, the leaders, the shepherds of the church.

Second of all, Christians have never believed that divorce is an unforgivable sin. That one belongs to blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (Mark 3:29).

Thirdly, regardless of what “many evangelical Christians” may think, we are not to do that which is right in our own eyes (Deuteronomy 6:18, Proverbs 3:7). God sets the standards – not His followers.

There are very specific passages about requirements for being a Pastor, and one of them is being a husband of one wife (which does not mean one-at-a-time) (I Timothy 3:2). It also doesn’t allow for female pastors. And he is supposed to be in control of his household (I Timothy 3:4-5). Having your wife leave you says you are not in control of your household. Now is it possible that a pastor can have a wife leave/desert him through no fault of his own? Yes. But should he remain as a pastor? Not according to Scripture. However, Scripture does not forbid a divorced man to preach.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) I Timothy 3:2-5

Tongues as Evidence of Salvation

This is an off-the-wall post that resulted from one of my morning quiet times this past week.

The subject of speaking in tongues cannot be discussed in a few paragraphs. It is an exhaustive subject, with many verses to dissect and study. So I’m not asking to open a debate over whether Biblical tongues have ceased or if they are still relevant today. (please don’t try to start that discussion now – I don’t have the time – maybe some other time)

Having said that, there is one area of the speaking in tongues subject that I do want to address.

There is a group that teaches that you must speak in tongues if you are a Christian. In other words, tongues are proof of salvation, and anyone who does not speak in tongues is not truly saved.

Read the following passage: I Corinthians 12:27- 30

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

Paul is speaking to saved people. Members of the Body of Christ. He is explaining the different rolls of the members of that Body. He then asks a series of questions. It is implied that there is one answer for them all. That answer has to be either “yes” or “no”.

There is no answer except yes or no. And the answer has to be the same for all the questions.

If the answer is no, then this passage in and of itself proves that tongues are not essential for true salvation.

If the answer is yes, then those that adhere to this belief have a whole new problem. You see, if the answer is “yes”, then not only must you speak in tongues to be saved, but you must also, by necessity, be an apostle, a prophet, and a teacher. You must also, by necessity, work miracles and be a miracle healer, and be able to interpret everyone else’s tongue speaking.

One of the requirements to be an apostle is that you must be a witness of the risen Lord. If you are a true prophet, then even one wrong prophecy makes you a false prophet. And I don’t know anyone who speaks in tongues who is going around making the lame walk, the blind see, the deaf hear, and the dead come back to life.

Tongues, which ceased upon the completion of Scripture, never were, and certainly are not now, a necessity that proves one is truly saved.

Homosexual Influence on Children

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. II Timothy 3:13

I read an article recently written by a lesbian who was complaining that in trying to potty train her little boy, the only books she could find on the subject had too much “gender enforcement” in them for her and her gay partner.

But did absolutely everything in the "Potty Book for Boys" by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated by Dorothy Stott have to be blue? And did the main character, Henry, have to clearly state that his favorite color is also blue? Plumbing or no plumbing, it's a tad more gender enforcement than we really need.”

Not only do gays want everyone to accept them as “normal”, they want to make sure that children aren’t encouraged to be what God made them to be in terms of their gender. They seem to want to discourage boys from being boys and girls from being girls. They seem to want as many children as possible to grow up to be homosexual as well. God forbid that a little boy may want to play with trucks and toy guns and baseball and GI Joes. Or that he wear blue! Let’s encourage him to like pink, and play with dolls, and dress up like the Queen of England.

But of course, homosexuality is not something you are "born" with. It is a choice - influenced by your upbringing, the people around you, and the environment you live in. These gals evidently know that. Otherwise, why the fuss?

Sheesh.

The Real Me

Here I am, where I am most of my waking hours. In front of my laptop. Only the venue changes. Sometimes I'm at home. Most of the time I'm at work. And sometimes I'm who-knows-where. But I'm almost always in front of my HP Pavillion dv9000.

So now you know I'm more than just green eyes behind granny glasses.

And yes, I know the picture on the hall wall is crooked. So?

Do You Really Worship God?

If you are a Christian, you will most likely answer immediately.

"Yes, I worship God."

Do you really?

Worship as a noun means "worthiness, respect, reverence paid to a divine being".

Worship as a verb means "to honor or reverence as a divine being or supernatural power", "to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion". It can also mean "to show devoted deferential honor to : regard as worthy of great honor".

Do you think going to church is worshipping God?
Is singing a hymn or praise song worshipping God?
Teaching a Sunday School Class?
Working in a Ministry?

Depends. All of the things I listed above can be a form of worship. But it's not dependent on how well you perform each activity, or how dedicated you are to them, or how talented or gifted you are.

If your heart does not long for God, if you do not figuratively or literally fall on your face before Him when you come to Him, you are not truly worshipping Him.

When you are truly worshipping God, several things happen.

You realize how holy He is and what a depraved sinner you are.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Isaiah 6:5

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Luke 5:8

You look forward to opportunities to spend time with Him.

My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Psalms 84:2

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalms 84:10

You want to sing to Him and about Him.

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Psalms 100:2

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:19

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16

You want to serve Him.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8

You want to tell others about Him.
Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? John 4:29

When is the last time you truly worshipped God?

Another Islamic Law Story

I missed this last week, but thanks to Northeast Intelligence Network, I heard about it.

A 19 year old Muslim girl was gang-raped recently in Saudi Arabia. The six rapists were sentenced to 1-5 years in jail. THE VICTIM was sentenced by the Muslim court to receive 90 lashes for “being in the car of an unrelated male at the time of the rape.”

A retrial was held. Good thing, yes?

No.

The new court hearing resulted in a slightly worse sentence for the rapists – 2 to 9 years in prison, but resulted in THE VICTIM being sentenced to 200 lashes – because she dared to go to the media with her story. She was also sentenced to 6 months in jail.

The law in Saudi Arabia allows for the death penalty for rape. Evidently these 6 men didn’t rape the girl sufficiently viciously enough to warrant the death penalty. Wanna bet they get out before their terms are up?

Bet she won’t. I doubt she'll survive the 200 lashes and her prison time.

What God says about Unbelief

Unbelief. Lack of Faith. These things are contrary to God.

In fact, no one comes to God except through faith.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

As Christians, we are expected to have faith in God to handle every area of our life.
He won’t reward unbelief with blessings. Instead, He will withhold them.

And He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Matthew 13:58

If we are in disbelief, He won’t allow us His power in our lives.

Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief… Matthew 17:19-20

He will rebuke Christians for our unbelief.

Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them. Afterward He appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen Him after He was risen.Mark 16:9-14

If we will confess our unbelief and ask Him for faith, He will work in our lives.

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. Mark 9:24-25

After all that God has created and done in this world, there are those that still choose not to believe. He says that is foolish. He is amazed that we choose not to believe…

For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. Romans 1:20-22

And He marvelled because of their unbelief… Mark 6:6

Unbelief will result in being unable to enter into God’s rest (heaven – for all eternity)

But with whom was He grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.Hebrews 3:17-19

“But I still don’t believe in your God.”

Unbelief doesn’t negate God.

For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar…. Romans 3:3

Unbelief results in an eternity in Hell – where there are no unbelievers.

Five Common Misconceptions about Christians

Below are five common misconceptions or misunderstandings about Christians. There are more, but these seem to be the key falsehoods.

1. Christians think they are better than everybody else.

Just the opposite is true. In fact, in order to become a born again Christian, one must admit that he or she is a sinner who deserves to go to hell, and who is totally incapable of doing anything worthy of gaining heaven. A Christian understands that he/she is a depraved, wicked individual at heart, and no better than a Hitler or a Stalin, and who, under the right circumstances, could and would commit any atrocity ever known to man.

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. Psalm 10:4

Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes. Psalm 119:155

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9

2. Christians think they are going to heaven because they are better than everybody else.

Christians do know (there is no "doubt" about it) they are going to heaven, but not because they are better than everybody else. They know they are going to heaven because their penalty for their sins was paid for on the cross by Jesus Christ. They have believed on (i.e.: put their trust in) Jesus Christ, and He bought them a place in heaven.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. I John 5:13

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with Me in paradise. Luke 23:43

3. Christians are judgmental because they think [fill in the blank] is a sin.

No. Christians point out sin not because of what they think, but because God says it is sin. We are supposed to point out sin and warn about God’s judgment as well as to tell others about the wonderful news that Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins and will give us a place in heaven if we’ll believe in and follow Him.

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Ezekiel 3:18

4. Christians are always damning other people to hell.

Christians have no power to damn anyone. We are to warn about hell though, because it is a real place. (see Ezekiel 3:18 above) . And as a side note, God does not damn anyone to hell either. He sent His Son into the world to save us all from hell. It’s not about being “good” or “bad”. None of us are good enough to go to heaven. We all make a decision in life on where we will spend eternity. It’s about accepting or rejecting Christ.

For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17

He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

5. Christians never have any fun

Not only do Christians have fun, but we have peace. No non-believer has true peace.

for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10

But let all those that put their trust in Thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because Thou defendest them: let them also that love Thy name be joyful in Thee. Psalm 5:11

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

For God giveth to a man that is good in His sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy… Ecclesiastes 2:26

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace... Galatians 5:22-23

My advice to non believers:

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him. Psalm 2:12

Political Correctness

Political correctness has gotten so out of hand that dragons breathing fire are considered a dangerous subject – one that may bring on a lawsuit against the publisher by someone who is offended.

Excerpt from the article:

A leading children's author was told to drop a fire-breathing dragon shown in a new book - because the publishers feared they could be sued under health and safety regulations.
It is just one of the politically correct cuts Lindsey Gardiner says she has been told to make in case youngsters act out the stories.
As well as the scene showing her dragon toasting marshmallows with his breath, illustrations of an electric cooker with one element glowing red and of a boy on a ladder have had to go.

Full article here.

The world is being turned inside out.

What used to be right is now considered wrong.
What used to be wrong is now considered right.
What used to be normal is now seen as abnormal.
What used to be abnormal is now seen as normal.
What used to be considered common sense is now seen as ridiculous.
What used to be considered ridiculous is now seen as common sense.

A very big part of the problem with our politically correct mentality is the legal system. If judges and juries would start throwing out all the ridiculous lawsuits and start fining both the plaintiffs and their attorneys for wasting the court’s time, and quit awarding huge sums of money to people who’ve had their “feelings hurt”, or who have burned their britches with hot coffee that they say should have had a warning label on it, some of this absurdity would stop.

But then, money is the real motivator behind these lawsuits - not righteous indignation. And last time I checked, people seemed to be getting more greedy, not less.

Quote Stephen Murphy, U.S. attorney:

"This case highlights the importance of conducting stringent and thorough background investigations," Stephen J. Murphy, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, said in a statement. "It's hard to imagine a greater threat than the situation where a foreign national uses fraud to attain citizenship and then, based on that fraud, insinuates herself into a sensitive position in the U.S. government."

Just Can't Give Up Now

Yesterday I sang a song that God gave me during all that I've been through over the past year and a half. When I heard it, I knew I had to sing it, because it could be my theme song for my life. I wanted to share the words to it here.

It's from a Mary Mary CD and it's called "Can't Give up Now".

There will be mountains that I will have to climb
And there will be battles that I will have to fight
But victory or defeat. It's up to me to decide.
But how can I expect to win, if I've never tried?

I just can't give up now.
I've come too far from where I started from.
Nobody told me the road would be easy
But I don't believe He brought me this far to leave me.

Never said there wouldn't be trials
Never said I wouldn't fall
Never said that everything would go
The way I wanted it to go.
But when my back is against the wall
And I feel all hope is gone
I just lift my head up to the sky
And say help me, Lord, to be strong.

I just can't give up now.
I've come too far from where I started from.
Nobody told me the road would be easy
But I don't believe He brought me this far to leave me.

I know You didn't bring me
Out here to leave me lonely
Even when I can't see clearly
I know that You are with me so I can't..

..give up now.
I've come too far from where I started from.
Nobody told me the road would be easy
But I don't believe He brought me this far to leave me.

He's never gonna leave me.
And if you are a child of God, no matter what you are going through,
He's never gonna leave you.

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.." Hebrews 13:5

The Look of Joy that only HE can give

During our service, while all of our heads were bowed in prayer, Brother John asked if there was anyone in the service today that didn’t know for sure if they would go to heaven when they died. He asked, with all heads still bowed, if those individuals would raise their hands – not so that anyone could embarrass them by coming to them, or naming them, or approaching them in any way, but so that he could pray for them, and that God would move in their hearts to help them make a decision on trusting Christ for their salvation.

At the end of the service, people were leaving out for the afternoon. One of our older members who happened to be at the back of the church opening up the doors for the end of the service, had seen one young man sitting up about midway in the congregation raise his hand earlier. Following the Spirit’s lead, he approached the young man and pulled him aside, touching his shoulder. “Son,” said the old man, “are you saved?”

The young man said, “no sir, I’m not.”

“Don’t you want to be?” said the old man.

The young man shook his head yes.

“Then go down there and talk to that preacher. Don’t wait.”

The encouragement of the Holy Spirit.

While he was counseling with a preacher, I visited with his wife. They’re new to the area, and have only been to our church a few times. She’s a Christian. She was excited about her husband being in another room seeking the Lord.

20 minutes later, a new believer was born. He came back to his wife and child with a smile as big as Texas.

I can tell you, there is no look quite like the look of joy on a new believer’s face after they’ve just prayed and asked Jesus to save them. It’s contagious.

This believer hasn’t stopped grinnin’ and worshipping since she left church today.

"Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:20

It's been months, and no one has come forward to claim this "easy money".

So where's Al Gore? If anyone should be able to claim the prize, he should.

But then he probably doesn't need the money. After all, he travels around the world charging $100,000 a lecture. What a sacrifice he's making, all so that he can be the savior of the earth ( as opposed to the Savior of the world).

Most of Us Want to Sacrifice for the Sake of Planet Earth

Don't take my word for it.

According to this poll, 4 out of 5 people on planet earth are prepared and willing to make changes in their lifestyle to help fight global warming.

Gee, this poll must have taken years to complete. They did some serious interviewing, didn't they?

Nope. 22,000 people in 21 countries.

Let’s see, there are 6,000,000,000 people on planet earth.

By my calculations, the number of people surveyed equal .0036 % of the population.

If you include the Vatican and Taiwan as countries, there are 194 countries in the world.

So they polled about 1/3 of 1% of the population in about 10% of the world and now declare that 4 out of 5 people are willing to accept energy taxes and are more willing than their governments to “contemplate serious changes to their lifestyles to combat global warming.”

There is a technical term that I believe is apropos for this particular poll.

Influential Conservatives and Liberals

Over at the London Telegraph, they have a listing of the 100 most influential Conservatives and 100 most influential Liberals.

The lists are both pretty much what I expected, give or take, although I strongly disagree with the order of both lists. Please. Rudy Giuliani should not be #1 on the Conservative list. There should be a "Moderates" list. - Rudy could top that one. And I think Ted Kennedy should be much further toward the top of the liberal list. In addition, the liberal list names guess who at #98:

CINDY SHEEHAN
Activist

Became America’s most prominent anti-war activist after her son Casey was killed in Baghdad in 2004, founding a “peace camp” outside President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas and was arrested frequently at demonstrations.
Her influence has waned, however, as her behaviour has become increasingly erratic and he has begun to direct much of her ire against the Democratic party, which she believed is insufficiently anti-war. Has vowed to run for Congress against Nancy Pelosi should the House Speaker fail to take steps to impeach Bush

Since when is a media hog considered influential?

But then, this is a London perspective of American politics. The Brits don't have much of a clue of what's really going on over here.

Liberals, Democrats, Homosexuals and Blacks

Here's a subject for discussion.

As a general rule, Blacks are anti-homosexual. At the very least, they're tolerant of them. At the most, they don't like the gay rights movement comparing themselves to the Black struggle for equality.

The Liberal Democrats can't continue indefinitely to try to cater to both groups. So at what point will they have to make a choice? Which will they choose?
