What Does a Conservative Look Like?

It really irks me when the Associated Press has headlines like this.

The Headline reads: Blogger’s Prison Death Rallies Iran’s Liberals

Iran’s Liberals
Iran’s Conservatives

Guess who the Associated Press says they are.

The role of Iranian bloggers as liberal opinion-shapers could intensify ahead of June 12 elections that will decide whether arch-conservative President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad remains for another four years.”

Iran’s Liberals = freedom loving people who want less government control over their lives.

Iran’s Conservatives = Ahmedinejad and his oppressive, freedom-squashing government.

In this country, it is the Conservatives who want more freedom and less government intervention in their lives. Bush, the semi-conservative president was wary of Iran and other countries like it and didn’t believe diplomacy was the answer to keeping them in line.

Obama, the ultra-liberal is the one who wants to hold hands and sing Kumbaya with Iran, North Korea, Venezuala, and every other third world dictator, despot or Communist ruler.

The liberals are in control in this country now, and they’re talking about more government, more socialist programs to make more people dependent on government, more control over the Internet, suppression of religious freedom, suppression of Constitutional rights, and a Civilian Security Force (i.e.: Obama loyalists seeking out Obama dissenters to report to authorities).

Yet the Associated press insisted on dividing Iran into “liberal” and “conservative” and making the “conservatives” the bad guys.

I’m sure it wasn’t intentional.
Yeah, and I’m sure Bill Clinton is a faithful and doting husband.

Here's a quick test. See how quickly you can spot the true conservative from the choices below.

#2:

If you guessed #2, you are absolutely right. This man is a true conservative.
If you guessed #1, you are absolutely wrong. You probably work for the Associated Press, don't you?

Clinton Supporter Joins McCain Camp

Watch this video of a long time Clinton supporter "going over to the other side" and supporting McCain. Pay special attention to the interviewer and her questions and remarks. She can't stand it that he's supporting McCain. It's a hoot.

Top Hillary Supporter Switches to McCain

On a side note, reading this, "...John McCain has conceded to a party platform calling for an outright ban on abortion, with no exceptions..." was the most encouraging thing I read all day.

Ah, The Media doing what it Does Best.

Yes, the news media is at it again. Printing an “objective” article about presidential hopeful John McCain’s trouble as a public speaker. They are right, you know. He doesn’t come across well. Boring almost. Clumsy.

McCain Works Hard to Polish Skills as Orator

But what about the Media’s darling, the great Black Hope? Without a teleprompter, Obama is a bumbling idiot. Why doesn’t the media report on that?

Internet Anonymity

When one can post anonymously, it is sometimes tempting to some to be, shall I say, less than civil?

I frequent the webpage of our local newspaper and have noticed a pattern with many of the posters in the forums and comments sections. Rather than just disagreeing with people with opposing views by presenting their case, they frequently and quickly turn to name calling, insults, and acrimonious and vitriolic verbal abuse.

An example recently was a letter to the editor from a woman who was concerned that the newspaper was publishing too much graphic detail on sexual crimes being committed in the community. She said she had two children, one in Junior High and one in High School, and she felt compelled to have to censor the paper before allowing them to read it. She did not mention whether her kids were male or female, nor their ages. She did not call for censorship of the newspaper. She simply wrote a letter suggesting that the paper might want to consider being a little more discreet with some of the more graphic details of the crime. She sounded concerned, but was not demanding. It was simply a chance for her to voice her opinion.

The weasels came out of the woodwork.

Rather than disagree with her politely and state their reasons for differing with her, they attacked her like bullies on a playground. They suggested, among other things, that she start subscribing to “The Weekly Reader”, that if she had a daughter, she would probably end up pregnant because she was obviously raising her children to be naïve. They said she had her head in the sand and that they felt sorry for her kids and their “guaranteed ignorance”. They then accused her of thinking her kids could do no wrong and told her to “grow up”. They suggested she hide a tape recorder in her home and listen to the language her “little angels” use when she’s not around. She was told that her kids were guaranteed to be talking about using their genitals with someone else’s genitals and probably using the “F” word.

After reading these posts, I felt compelled to come to her defense. So I posted a comment saying that the disrespectful, spiteful remarks they were making against her made me question their ages – as their rhetoric was juvenile and immature. I pointed out that she simply voiced her concern over the graphic nature of some of the newspaper’s reporting and that she did not call for censorship. I then asked what was wrong with trying to raise your kids to have wholesome values. I closed by saying “Go ahead now, say something ugly about me next. I know you can’t wait.”

LOL! They proved my point. I was called an "idiot" and a “book burner”, and a "psycho parent". I was then told to let my kids out of the closet or basement every now and then.

They proved my point. They always do.

There is a verse in Proverbs that is one of my favorites in Scripture. There is great wisdom in its words. "Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge."

Follow up on Idiots or Liars article

The Northeast Intelligence Network has a post on this same incident I posted on yesterday. You can read it here.
Basically, after their investigation into the story, it is clear that their vote on the people involved is that they are liars, not idiots. (although I think it could be argued that they are both).

Home Depot has plenty of shop vacs in stock, but you'll have to go to Lowe's to buy your fertilizer.

Reminds me about an incident that happened in my community just a few months ago. A tanker carrying chlorine was stolen from inside a fenced area. As far as I can determine from local news accounts, it was never found.

Coming to a WalMart near you? Kaboom.

Nothing slanted about THIS poll....NOT!

Ok guys. I need your help with this one.

The liberal Canadian paper, Canoe News, ran a poll today:

Six young Amish girls are shot in the head by a man with a 20-year grudge. You wish
___that guns were restricted.
___that schools had better security.
___that men could solve problems without violence.
___that Americans would accept their society has many unaddressed problems.
___that you were living on another planet.

A few really stupid choices, I’d say. I’d like to add a new list of choices for the same question….I’ve put down two, and invite readers to add their own to it…

Six young Amish girls are shot in the head by a man with a 20-year grudge. You wish
_____that somebody at the school had had a concealed carry permit so they could have
put this guy out of his misery before he hurt anyone
_____that the liberal news media wouldn’t use tragedies like this one to further
their agendas

Anxiously awaiting your feedback.

Media Polls

Media Polls

The headline reads “Poll: More Americans blame Bush for 9/11” The article goes on to say that the percentage of Americans who blame Bush has risen from almost a third of the public to almost half, and that 45 percent said they blamed him “a great deal” or a “moderate amount”.

How many thousands of individuals were polled? Read the fine print.1004 Americans were surveyed by telephone. They claim the margin of error is 3 percent. I just visited the US Census Bureau online and it says the population at the moment is 299,720,375. According to my publicly educated brain, that works out to .00000335 percent of the population that actually participated in this poll.

There is an old saying that says "There are three ways to not tell the truth: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

If you want to deceive people, get some statistics and make sure they support your view. If they don't, just keep working on them until they do. The truth is, you can use statistics to try to prove just about anything. But then this is nothing new for the media.

If you say something enough times, some people will start to believe it.

Media Fraud

Responsible journalism. These days it seems that term is almost an oxymoron.
There have been a lot of posts over the last few days about the Reuters' manipulation of photos in order to stir public opinion against Israel. This type of media bias has been going on for years. It just seems to be more prominent in today’s culture because of the ubiquitousness of television and the Internet. I debated on whether to publish this post, because in doing so, if you go to the webpage I reference, you will view some obscenities that I personally find very offensive as a Christian. It's not my intention to offend anyone. My intention is to show another example of how the news media attempts to manipulate the public according to its own agenda. I read a quote from Mark Twain today... “If you don’t read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed. “
Here is the webpage.
Here also is an excellent short video

Interesting Discovery

I was mulling over the fact that our local rag...er...newspaper had nothing in its online publication this morning about the 4 bomb threats that were made here in my town which caused the evacuation of 2 Wal Marts, a major phone service supplier and a major auto parts manufacturer. In my contemplation about the inconsistency of our local media, the thought hit me.... if I rearrange the letters in the word "media", I can get this: The media is not worth "adime".
