Letting Go

Sometimes, when you care about someone, and you see them self-destructing, you want to do something, but you aren't sure what. The familiarity of the relationship will often hinder anything contructive you might want to say or do to try to help them see what they are doing to themselves. It can be very painful. They are in pain, so they cause pain. You want to help, but they may not want help right now.

When the situation comes to a head, and a heated conversation takes place, sometimes that's the best time to back off and say, "You know what? You need to go this alone. You aren't where you need to be, and you don't want my help, so it's time for me to back out of this relationship for a while."

At that point, they might say "forget you" and break off the relationship- claiming you've seen the last of them. What they forget though, is that God is in control. He's never NOT in control. Even when He allows us to screw things up, it's because He ALLOWS it - NOT because He's not in control.

The best thing to do at this point is to turn to your Father and give the whole situation to Him. He can handle it. Not only can He handle it, but He can control it in any way He chooses. What better hands to put them in than His?

Still hurts though.

Should Christians pull their Children out of Public Schools?

There is a movement calling for Christian parents to pull their children out of public schools. The movement is called “Call to Dunkirk” and is being promoted by a ministry called Exodus Mandate.

Voddie Baucham, author of “Family Driven Faith”, says “If you control the schools, you control the future.”

There’s no arguing that public schools nationwide have generally kicked Jesus Christ out. God is allowed only if defined as vague, all-accepting, non-judgmental, ecumenical and universal in nature.

I agree that Christians should consider taking their children out of public schools if those schools are undermining the Christian faith and promoting secular humanism, homosexuality and promiscuity.

On the other hand, I’m extremely thankful to live in the south, and in particular, the area I live in at present. I seriously considered sending my newest son (he’s my #4 son – my sister, who died a little over a year ago, left him in my husband and my hands to raise) to a Christian school rather than the public school because of all that I’ve been reading about what is going on in that arena.

I’ve been extremely pleased and surprised to find that there are still public school systems that have not abandoned Christianity. My son’s teachers frequently pray with their students, mention their faith in emails to me, and yes, they had “Christmas” parties the week before school let out for the “Christmas” break. Last year, on a “movie day”, one teacher allowed the class to watch “The Ten Commandments”. The superintendant of the system is also a self-professing Christian, and recently I was allowed to read an email he sent out to all the teachers within the system. He and his wife lost a child years ago to SIDS, and he recalls the heartache they went through. He then closes with his thoughts on Christmas.

The following is an excerpt from his email. I will not publish the entire letter, but wanted you to be encouraged that there is still hope for public schools…at least in some parts of this country.

I hope that you all have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. I know that we all have so much to be thankful for this holiday season. I am thankful that I live in the greatest country in the world and that I work in such an amazing school system with wonderful, caring employees. I have visited every location this year and throughout the district one thing is apparent---we have teachers and support workers who take pride in their jobs and care deeply about our children, our schools, and our community. Thanks for all that you do to make our system the best in the state!

As the holiday season approaches, I know that Christmas means many things for all of us. I hope that you all have as many wonderful memories of Christmas as I do. If you have a little time I would like to tell you what Christmas means to me, …

It means that because God loved me so much, He gave His son for me. That's what Christmas is all about for me.

And I pray God blesses this man for professing his faith publicly without fear, and for having a positive impact on the kids in our community. It is because of his stand, and the stand of so many Christian educators and students, that the ACLU has been distressed due to the graduation ceremonies in the community. For years now, the ACLU has threatened to sue and stop any mention of Jesus Christ in the ceremonies, and each year, the student led prayer has stood in defiance of the ACLU and declared as a group their faith in Him and their appreciation for His influence in their lives. And the ACLU has been helpless, because the students have the right to decide their graduation class's position on publicly praying.

For clarification, I will say that if the school system abandons its present stance and succombs to the politically correct notion that Christianity has no place in the public venue, and begins to undermine the faith in which we are bringing up our son, we will pull him out of the system and either homeschool or consider private school options. I pray it won't come to that here. Seeing what is happening in the rest of the country, I'm not overly optimistic.

Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop and an Obama supporter, was upset about Obama’s choice of Rick Warren to lead the invocation at his inauguration.

Gene was quoted by the Times as saying, “we’re talking about putting someone up front and center at what will be the most-watched inauguration in history, and asking his blessing on the nation. And the God that he’s praying to is not the God that I know.”

You are right, Gene. You don’t know the God that Rick will be praying to, because, as much as I disagree with Rick Warren on a lot of issues, the God he prays to says that homosexuality is an abomination, as well as is fornication – both of which you are guilty. Your God is not the God of Christianity.

Day after Christmas

I couldn't believe it has been this long since I posted something. Registration at the college, along with preparations for family and friends over the Christmas holiday have taken all of my time.



I appreciate the emails and posts wishing me well during this Christmas season. I wish the same for you guys (and gals). May God bless you and your family, even if you are in the midst of turmoil, by simply reminding you of the reason we celebrate this season...that a tiny baby was born thousands of years ago Who was the essence of holiness, righteousness, and love, and Who was born for the specific purpose of growing up to be punished in our place for sins He never committed - to show us what love really is. We can know earthly love, but we have no concept of the love of God. When the Bible says God is love, that also means that love is God. So we only have a tiny glimpse of Who God is when we experience love here on earth.

I promise to get back to writing soon...before the New Year. For now, it's off to grandmother's house we go...

I really did think I'd heard it all, but of course, there's always something even more perverted, more disgusting, and more blasphemous that ever before.

When I first heard about this, and after looking at this website, I thought surely that it was a parody, or just a sleazy joke, but several online publications have picked up the story, so I'm pretty sure it's legit.

The Princess Diana Gay Bible is scheduled to be published soon.

Basically, this book trashes Christianity and mocks Jesus Christ. Should be very popular.

Which makes it all the more abhorrent.

This post is for one reason: To show why I will not allow any more comments from Anonymous from Tennessee.

The following is a list of remarks made by Anonymous over the last month or so, some I’ve deleted and some have posted. This is an example of how not to get published on my blog.

It is not, as he accuses, because I don’t allow anyone who differs in opinion from me.
It is not, as he accuses, because I can’t stand anyone to disagree with me.
It is not, as he accuses, that I can’t defend myself.

It is because of his ad hominem attacks.
It is because of his personal insults.

The Second Amendment

I've seen this video before, but it's been years. Everyone who thinks gun control is a good idea needs to watch this. My thanks to Ex-preacher man for sending this to me - I'd forgotten about it.



The most important thing she said (and I'm paraphrasing) was that the Second Amendment is not about duck hunting or recreational shooting. It's about protecting ourselves not only from criminals, but from a tyrannical government.

Here’s one reason: India’s extremist gun laws.

In order to own a gun you have prove a direct threat on your life. You then have to surrender it as soon as the threat is gone. You have to go to the police station once a month and offer your gun for inspection to the police. You have to show the bullets you have, and in case if you have fired any of them you have to show the casings and tell the police where you used them.
This is not just civilians. Even police officers who use their weapons have to collect their casings and include them in their report of where and why they fired their weapons.

In other words, India is an example of a society which has completely disarmed itself. Now its people are like sheep for the slaughter. The terrorists proved that.

And our President-elect wants more gun control.
