Did Jesus Really Perform Miracles?
This is an excellent article over at Probe.org. There's not much to comment on, as the article pretty much says it all, but I thought it was worth passing on.
There are many "Christian" scholars today that deny Jesus's miracles. They pick and choose what they want to believe from the Bible as though they were at a $12.99 all-you-can-eat buffett. If you look at extra-Biblical writings of the first and second centuries after Christ, it's especially interesting to note that none of Jesus's skeptics or enemies of his time refuted the fact that he performed miracles. They denied his deity and instead called Jesus a sorcerer. He did perform miracles. No doubt.
I've seen miracles in my own life and in those I love and care for. I have no problem believing in the miracles of the Bible. In fact, if I didn't believe in them, I wouldn't be a Christian. - Which has for many years been a puzzle to me - why do liberals who don't believe the Scriptures choose to call themselves Christians? Guess it "feels good". After all, isn't that what liberalism is all about? Feeling good about yourself? I'm a good person... I care more than you do.
