Churches Falling into Apostasy
Why are more and more churches falling away from God and into apostasy?
For one thing, it was prophesied that in the end times, we would see just that.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” II Timothy 4:3-4
Churches fall into apostasy when they elevate their view of man and lower their view of God.
The fact that so many churches are falling away and embracing sin, ecumenicalism, and new age theology is just another sign that we are nearing the end of this world and the return of Christ.
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;” II Thessalonians 2:3
Those from these false churches will laugh at my saying this, just as Scripture prophesied. They deny the authority of Scripture, they deny the Scriptural account of creation and the flood.
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.” II Peter 3:3-8
They deny their sin. They claim knowledge, but it is not of God.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” II Timothy 3:1-5
God will still continue to draw lost sinners. But what are true Christians supposed to do? We can’t become apathetic when we know what fate awaits them in eternity.
“But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” II Timothy 4:5
